Cottage Grove Man Faces 264 Felony Charges in Child Pornography Arrest

Cottage Grove, OR - On June 19, 2025, Cory Mark Aslin , 61, was taken into custody by the Cottage Grove Police Department, facing 264 felony charges related to the possession and/or dissemination of child pornography. The charges, currently listed as probable cause (PC) and not yet filed in court, include a range of serious offenses. Man Arrested in Eugene for Assault After Robbery Attempt

EUGENE, Ore. — A 29-year-old man was arrested on June 19, 2025, following an assault reported two days earlier in downtown Eugene, police said.  At approximately 7:57 a.m. on June 17, Eugene Police responded to the 800 block of Pearl Street after a woman in her early 40s reported being attacked. According to the victim, a man, later identified as Joel Cox-Lopez , approached her asking for money, as he had done with others in the area. When she responded that she had none, Cox-Lopez allegedly grabbed her tote bag from her shoulder and threw her to the ground, causing injuries to her face, knee, and wrists. The suspect then fled the scene. After investigation, police identified and arrested Cox-Lopez on June 19. He was booked into Lane County Jail on a misdemeanor assault charge under Eugene City Code 4.729 . The EPD case, numbered 25-09605, remains under investigation. Elisha Young Arrested Again in Ohio for $100,000 Eugene Weekly Embezzlement Case

Eugene, Ore., June 17, 2025 — Elisha Young , a 38-year-old woman accused of embezzling over $100,000 from the Eugene Weekly , was arrested in Ohio on June 12, 2025, marking her second arrest in this case. (Jail records indicate Young was booked on June 13, 2025) Eugene Police report that, o n June 10, deputies with the U.S. Marshals Service made contact at a residence in Piqua, Ohio, as part of an ongoing fugitive investigation. Deputies were granted access to the residence and were able to establish communication with the individual in question via phone. Following coordination with law enforcement, the individual surrendered voluntarily at the Franklin County Jail on June 12 under the direction of law enforcement personnel. This surrender occurred as a result of investigative efforts and was not initiated voluntarily by the individual . Pedestrian Struck by Van On W. 11th, Alcohol and Speed Ruled Out

EUGENE, Ore. — A 31-year-old pedestrian was injured after being struck by a Chevrolet G30 van on June 6, 2025, at approximately 8:05 p.m., according to Eugene Police. The incident occurred when the pedestrian, reportedly lunging at vehicles, stepped in front of the van driven by a 29-year-old. The driver continued to W. 11th Avenue and Bailey Hill Road, where they stopped and called 911 to report the crash. Witnesses followed the van to its stopping point. Police determined that neither speed nor driver intoxication contributed to the collision. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. Kotek to Now Extradite Texas Suspect in Eugene Area Burglaries Targeting Asian Families

Eugene, Ore., June 6, 2025 — Oregon Governor Tina Kotek has reversed her decision to deny funding for the extradition of a burglary suspect linked to a crime ring targeting Asian American households in Lane County, a move met with relief from the Asian community after weeks of criticism. Two suspects are currently held in Texas: one, under an ICE hold, will remain in federal custody, while the other will be extradited to Oregon with a governor’s warrant in place. Lane County District Attorney Christopher Parosa is in Texas to facilitate the process. Juvenile Suspect Arrested Firearm Recovered in River Road Shots Fired Disturbance

EUGENE, Ore. — On May 29, 2025, at 11:39 a.m., Eugene Police responded to a disturbance involving a group of juveniles at Hawaiian Time restaurant on 2080 River Road. Witnesses reported that one juvenile was armed with a firearm and fired shots into the air, prompting a swift response from multiple police units. Nearby North Eugene High School was notified and advised to implement security measures as a precaution while police searched for suspects. Several juveniles were contacted during the ongoing investigation. Update: Eugene Police Investigations detectives, with assistance from Salem Police, located the juvenile suspected of possessing a firearm during the incident. The juvenile was taken into custody safely and without incident at a residence in Salem. A firearm was recovered following the arrest. Arrest Made in Deadly Amazon Path Crash

EUGENE, Ore. — On June 4, 2025, Scott Shawn Stolarczyk , 51, of Eugene, was indicted, and an arrest warrant was issued on charges of second-degree manslaughter and driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII), a Class A misdemeanor, in Lane County Circuit Court.  Stolarczyk was arrested and booked into the Lane County Jail today, June 5, 2025, on these charges. The indictment follows a deadly incident on April 23, 2025, when Stolarczyk’s Toyota RAV4 struck and killed Sharon Johnson Schuman, 79, of Eugene, on the Amazon bark path. Previously, on May 29, 2025, Stolarczyk had faced a single charge of second-degree manslaughter, which carries a mandatory minimum sentence of six years and three months if convicted. According to a search warrant affidavit, Stolarczyk had a blood-alcohol content (BAC) of 0.234 nearly an hour after the crash, nearly three times Oregon’s legal limit of 0.08.
