Officer Involved Shooting on I-5 Update

Tangent, Or. - On Sunday, April 28, 2024 at approximately 6:25p.m., Linn County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police were involved in an officer involved shooting on I-5 near exit 226, south of Tangent. Earlier in the afternoon, at approximately 3:00 p.m., two suspects, Cameron James Bielman , age 30 and Yasmina Destinee Teal , age 30, both of Anacortes, Washington were involved in a shooting in Coburg, Or. This shooting critically injured one male. The two suspects fled the area and allegedly stole a black Honda Civic.  Three hours later, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the Honda and suspects were located by Lane County Deputies and Oregon State Troopers and a high-speed pursuit began. Linn County Deputies joined the pursuit. The vehicle proceeded northbound on I-5 from exit 209 where spike strips were successfully deployed, and the vehicle slowed. Tillamook County Fatal Crash Claims Cottage Grove Woman's Life

Tillamook County, Ore. 27 Apr. 24- On Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 4:55 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Hwy 101, near milepost 39, in Tillamook County. The preliminary investigation indicated a northbound Dodge Charger, operated by Ellis Miller Heine (56) of Cottage Grove, attempted to pass another vehicle and lost control. The Dodge slid across the northbound lane and into the ditch at highway speeds before striking a tree. The operator of the Dodge (Ellis Heine) was seriously injured and transported to a local hospital. A passenger in the Dodge, Rhonda Sue Heine (55) of Cottage Grove, was declared deceased at the scene. The cause of the crash is under investigation. Cinnamon Ave. Shooter Identified Charged with Manslaughter

Eugene, Or. - The female victim in this case passed away from her injuries.  Her identity is being withheld at this time.  Our deepest condolences go out to the victim’s family and friends. Detectives identified the suspect as Izyk Paul Bartlett , 20, of Eugene.  He was lodged in the Lane County Jail this evening on charges of Manslaughter in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.  The investigation is ongoing.   The Lane County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Eugene Police Department, Coburg Police Department, Junction City Police Department, and Oregon State Police for their assistance on this case.   Bartlett was arrested in February of this year for another shooting incident. Oregon Man Wanted for Murder Arrested in California

UPDATE - Suspect arrested for murder in California 2024 mugshot from Mendocino County Jail Early this morning, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office was advised by the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office in California that they arrested John Jay Kelley on LCSO warrant for Murder in the Second Degree.  He was arrested without incident and the involved vehicle was recovered.  Kelley is being held pending extradition to Oregon.   LCSO would like to thank the Oregon State Police, Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, and many other partners who assisted on this case.   Kelley's arrest record in Mendocino County California can be seen here .  Junction City, Or. - On April 24th 2024, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a deceased adult female at a residence in the 28000 block of Hwy. 36 south of Junction City. Fatal Hit and Run under investigation UPDATED MAY 8, 2024 The victim’s family has been notified so we are able to release his name: Frank William Seaman , age 46.   Eugene Or. - Eugene Police Department is investigating a fatal hit-and-run at W. 4th and Polk that occurred on April 15 around 9:10 p.m.  Daylen Amir Austin , age 19, has initially been charged with felony Hit and Run. Firefighters Contain West Eugene RV Fire

Police Respond to Bomb Threat at Chad Drive St. Vincent de Paul

Eugene, Or. - At 10:29 a.m., Eugene Police went to St. Vincent de Paul, 2890 Chad Drive, after a man recently evicted from one of their properties called and reported he was enroute to the Chad Drive facility with an explosive. After working the call, police determined the threat was not credible. EPD appreciates the caution taken by St. Vincent de Paul in notifying police.  St. Vincent de Paul evacuated the building and sent employees home as a precaution. Dozens of Protesters Arrested, at Least One With a Firearm

UPDATE: As a result of this morning’s demonstration, 52 people were arrested for disorderly conduct. Two individuals were additionally charged with conspiracy and theft 2. All suspects are in custody at the Lane County Jail.  Six vehicles were towed from the scene.  Today’s incident required a significant law enforcement response. Man Arrested After Allegedly Setting His Apartment on Fire

Eugene, Or. - At 2:05 a.m., this morning, Eugene Police were dispatched to the 2300 block of  Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard regarding a man who was reported to have lit a fire inside his apartment.  Eugene Springfield Fire was also dispatched and extinguished the fire. The man, Edward Paul Slagle , age 59. Officers contacted Slagle and found he had warrants. Semi-truck Driver Arrested by K9 Unit after DUII Hit and Run Crash

Eugene, Or. - At 4:58 p.m. on April 7, Eugene Police units responded to a hit and run, where a semi-truck was reported to have struck a Jeep at Crescent Avenue and Coburg Road. The driver is reported to have gotten out of the truck, appeared intoxicated, and left the scene headed east on foot. A Jeep Wrangler had been damaged during the collision at the intersection of Crescent Avenue and Shadow View Drive after the Freightliner semi ran a four-way stop. The driver, later identified as Roger Lavern Dale, age 66, of Winston, also caused damage to a fence, tree, and masonry work in the 3300 block of Arlington Lane. K9 Officer Jake Thomas and Ayk responded to the scene and went to work. The team located Dale hiding behind a trash dumpster in the 2800 block of Crescent Avenue. After an investigation, Dale was arrested and transported to Lane County Jail on charges of DUII, Reckless Driving, and Hit and Run-Property damage. Sheriff's Deputies Respond to Shooting Near Lassen Lane

Junction City, Or. - On April 6th at about 3:30 a.m., deputies and a Junction City Police officer responded to the area of Lassen Lane and River Road for a report of a gunshot wound.   One person was injured and transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  The suspects fled immediately after the shooting, which appeared to be a targeted attack by individuals known to each other, and are still outstanding.   Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Lane County Sheriff’s Office at 541-682-4150, option 1.  News Release from Lane Co. Man Convicted of the Brutal 2023 711 Murder Sentenced to Life

UPDATE: Today, 4/5/2024, Jaisi Tavin Savath was sentenced to life in the custody of the Oregon State Department of Corrections without the possibility of parole for 25 years. On April 4, he was found guilty at the conclusion of a jury trial of Murder in the Second Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Eugene, Or. - The jury has found JAISI TAVIN SAVATH guilty of murder in the 2023 brutal shooting death of Stephen Anthony Forrest, age 32, of Eugene. Forrest was an employee of the 711 at 590 E. Broadway, in Eugene, when Savath shot and brutally murdered Forrest. Savath, then left the scene of the crime. Savath turned himself in 4 days later on 9/6/23. Original story here. Savath was also found guilty of felony unlawful use of a firearm. Savath has already plead guilty to the lessor charge of misdemeanor Unlawful Possession of a Firearm on April 1st, 2024. Early Morning Armed Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

Eugene, Or. - At 9:07 a.m. on April 3, a man entered Banner Bank, 169 W. 6th Avenue, and robbed the bank of cash using a handgun.  He fled in a vehicle and Eugene Police responded quickly with patrol units as well as drones. EPD developed suspect information, including a vehicle and its direction, and aired that to area police agencies.   At 9:25 a.m., Oregon State Police stopped the suspect vehicle going east on Hwy. 58 at milepost 3 and a suspect was taken into custody. Eugene Police is grateful for the fast response by our local agencies. The quick response by everyone helped get an arrest in less than 20 minutes. Search Warrant for Meth Served at Wheeless Trailer Sales One Arrested

Springfield, Or. - At around 5:30 p.m. on March 26, Eugene Police Street Crimes Unit served a search warrant for possession and delivery of methamphetamine at Wheeless Trailer Sales, 3560 Main Street, Springfield.  SCU had been investigating a long-time employee , 51-year-old Grant Wayne Wheeless , who lives on the property in an attached apartment. EMLPOYEE During the warrant service SCU located more than 3.4 pounds of suspected methamphetamine, more than $11,000 in cash, five operational digital scales with crystal residue on the weighing surface, various-sized unused plastic baggies (Packaging), and a stolen rifle.Wheeless was charged with Manufacture, Delivery, and Possession of Methamphetamine (Commercial Drug Offense) and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
