University of Oregon Professor Andrew Goble Arrested on 20 Counts of Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse

  Eugene, Oregon – November 21, 2025 Andrew Edmund Goble , age 72, a longtime professor in the Department of History at the University of Oregon, was booked into the Lane County Jail on November 21, 2025, facing 10 counts of Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse in the First Degree and 10 counts of Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree . On November 20, 2025, at approximately 7 a.m., Lane County Sheriff’s detectives executed a search warrant at a residence of Goble's in the 1900 block of Dogwood Drive in Eugene.  This search warrant stemmed from an investigation by the Lane County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, focusing on child exploitation. Life Sentence for Convicted Murderer

Eugene, Ore. - The suspect, James Paul Cable , has been sentenced to life in prison for Murder in the Second Degree. He has the possibility of parole after 25 years. He also received 25 months for Assault on a Public Safety Officer to be served concurrently to his life sentence.  The victim, Daniel Pizzutti, who was 35 at the time, was Cable’s roommate and died after being repeatedly struck in the head with a frying pan. The case was investigated by the Eugene Police Violent Crimes Unit. Lane County Man Resentenced to Nearly 88 Years After Appeal

Eugene, Ore. - A Lane County man convicted in 2018 of sexually abusing a foster child in his care was resentenced to nearly 88 years in prison after an appeal.  According to court records, Joe Albert Raygosa , age 50, was resentenced Monday in Lane County Circuit Court after he was found guilty of 10 sex crimes against a child. Raygosa was originally sentenced on 12 sex crimes in 2018. At that time Raygosa was sentenced to nearly 94 years.  Raygosa's release date is now listed as 1/17/2111. 87 years, 6 months and 17 days from today. EPD Releases Statement on Crashed White Hyundai Elantra and Moscow Idaho Murders

Eugene, Ore. – A crashed white Hyundai Elantra sits on Seneca Road near W. 7th. This vehicle is the same make and model as the vehicle of interest in the Moscow, Idaho murders Many people in the community have wondered if this crashed vehicle could be related to the Moscow, Idaho murders. A few added facts. This crash happened on the 16th of December around 7am. A very busy time for that street. Fire and police showed up to the crash. You can see the fire/EMS details here. We are being told this was a multi vehicle crash. Update: 7:51am 12/20/2022 – From Eugene Police: “We have no information to indicate it is related to the Moscow, Idaho, case.
