Miranda Wilcox’s $560K Embezzlement Case Heads to Fitness to Proceed Hearing

EUGENE, Ore., June 18, 2025 — Miranda Renee Wilcox, a 59-year-old Eugene woman accused of embezzling approximately $560,000 from Homes for Good , Lane County’s public housing authority, appeared in court today for a pretrial hearing. The hearing apparently focused on Wilcox’s ability to assist in her own defense, leading to a scheduled Fitness To Proceed - In Custody Review hearing on July 14, 2025. Wilcox was arrested on May 14, 2025, following an investigation by the Eugene Police Financial Crimes Unit, which uncovered the theft reported by Homes for Good in September 2024. As an HR and payroll specialist, Wilcox allegedly mismanaged payroll, with losses initially estimated at $125,000 but later revised to $560,000 after reviewing extensive bank records. Wilcox currently faces 27 felony charges, including six counts of Aggravated Theft in the First Degree and 21 counts of Identity Theft, down from an initial 137 charges.
