20-Year-Old Arrested on Multiple Encouraging Child Sex Abuse Charges

  EUGENE, Ore. – A 20-year-old Eugene man has been arrested as part of an ongoing Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation led by the Lane County Sheriff’s Office. UPDATE: The DA has filed on all ten Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse in the First Degree charges, but no filed on the ten counts of Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree. On January 14, detectives served a search warrant at a residence south of Eugene as part of an investigation focused on child exploitation. The investigation, conducted by the Lane County ICAC Task Force, resulted in the arrest of  Andrew John Hruby  on ten counts of  Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse in the First Degree , and ten counts of  Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree , both felonies. Foster Parent Pleads Guilty to Multiple Charges in Sex Abuse Case

EUGENE, Ore. – A 43-year-old man has pleaded guilty and was sentenced to multiple charges related to the abuse of a minor, following an investigation by Lane County Sheriff’s detectives. The investigation began on October 31, 2023, after allegations were made against Jeffery Allen Adams, who was the foster parent of the juvenile victim. Detectives quickly developed probable cause to arrest Adams on several charges related to sex crimes against the juvenile victim. As detectives worked to locate Adams, they received information that he was on his way to the victim’s location. Detectives and deputies acted swiftly, intercepting him less than a mile from the juvenile victim’s whereabouts. Adams was arrested and booked into the Lane County Jail on charges including sex abuse and sodomy. On January 13, 2025, Adams pleaded guilty to one count of Rape in the Second Degree, four counts of Rape in the Third Degree, and two counts of Sodomy in the Third Degree. Eugene Couple Arrested for Animal Neglect After Dog Found Dead in Hot Car

  EUGENE, Ore. – A Eugene couple has been arrested after one of their dogs was found dead in a hot car at the Navigation Center on River Avenue in June 2024. On June 23, 2024, Eugene Police responded to the center around 5 a.m. after a report that a dog had been found deceased in a vehicle. Another dog, an older Labrador, was also discovered in the car. Authorities believe the dogs had been left in the hot vehicle for an extended period of time, contributing to the tragic death of one of the animals. The owners of the dogs, 46-year-old Joshua Makii McFarland and Shayla Rose McFarland, had been staying at the Navigation Center at the time. Both were charged with Animal Neglect in the First Degree and Animal Neglect in the Second Degree. Lane County Deputies Search for Suspect in McKenzie Bridge Area

MCKENZIE BRIDGE, Ore. – Lane County Sheriff's deputies are actively searching for a suspect in the McKenzie Bridge area following a stolen vehicle investigation on January 13. UPDATE: The suspect, Travos Bechtol, was located and arrested around 4:45 p.m. A deputy assigned to the McKenzie District located a stolen vehicle and detained two suspects. However, a third individual, identified as 30-year-old Travos James Bechtol of Veneta, fled from the scene on foot. Bechtol was last seen around 4 p.m. on January 13 by a local resident, who reported seeing him attempting to break into a house near Taylor Road and McKenzie Highway. Authorities are asking anyone with information on Bechtol’s whereabouts to contact Lane County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch at 541-682-4141. Eugene Police Investigate Stabbing of Two Women Near W. 2nd and Madison

Eugene, Ore. – The Eugene Police Department is investigating a stabbing that occurred Thursday night near W. 2nd Avenue and Madison Street. At 7:49 p.m. on January 11, officers responded to reports of two women in their 20s who had been stabbed. Eugene Springfield Fire personnel also arrived and transported both victims to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. According to the victims, they were walking north on the west side of Madison Street when a man, standing next to a large tree, began to follow them. The man reportedly attempted to rob the women, making punching motions and stabbing them during the confrontation. The victims managed to escape, hiding inside one of their vehicles. The suspect is described as a white male in his 40s, approximately 5'06" tall, with a medium build and broad shoulders. Eugene Man Arrested After Firing Shots Inside Home

Eugene, Or. - A 42-year-old Eugene man was arrested early this morning after firing shots inside his home. Eugene Police responded to a call at 4:04 a.m. on January 10th in the 3800 block of Onyx Street , where a man was reported to be intoxicated and firing rounds, mostly inside the residence.  The man, identified as Bear Ander Dahlen , called police himself to report the situation. Dahlen was arrested without incident and taken into custody. He has been lodged at the Lane County Jail on 19 felony counts of unlawful use of a weapon and 1 felony count of reckless endangering. The investigation is ongoing, and police have filed the case under #25-00491. Former Willamette Leadership Academy Staff Member Sentenced for Felony Crimes Involving a Minor

Eugene, Or. - A former staff member of Willamette Leadership Academy has been sentenced for felony charges related to the exploitation of a minor. Sean Duncan Reid , 24, was convicted of luring a minor and displaying sexually explicit conduct involving a child . The crimes took place between July and August of 2023. Reid is currently being held in the Lane County Jail, awaiting transport to the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility for intake. His sentence is set to end on September 10th, 2027. (32 months) Court records show that Reid pleaded guilty to the charges on November 18th, 2024. A trial that was set for November 19th, 2024, was canceled following the guilty plea. At the time of his arrest, Reid was employed at Willamette Leadership Academy, and the victim was a former student. In response to the arrest, the academy issued a statement condemning the crimes.
