EPD SWAT and SCU Takes Fugitive into Custody
Eugene, Ore. - On August 30, EPD SCU gained information Dakota Dale Stover, a fugitive who had absconded while on transition leave from prison was holed up at his girlfriend’s house in the 3200 block of Willakenzie Drive. SCU monitored the location with no movement noted, however several people in the area advised Stover was at the location.
SCU applied for and was granted a body warrant to arrest Stover. The body warrant grants the authority to make entry to the location to arrest the person in the event they refuse to exit.
Around 4:30 p.m., EPD SWAT executed the warrant at the location. Stover did not exit initially so distraction devices were used to gain attention and compliance. Stover eventually exited the apartment and was taken into custody without incident. 23-12941
SCU is funded by the City of Eugene’s Community Safety Payroll Tax and works in concert with communities to help solve issues. The unit focuses on prolific offenders, who are identified through intelligence-based policing, public tips, and other sources. They proactively respond across the city to quality-of-life issues as they arise, using all available resources and partners such as community groups, neighborhood associations and city services. SCU is dedicated to targeting immediate and acute community safety system issues while working toward mission-critical enhancements that need to be addressed through a longer-term and broader community safety initiative.
