Wanted Suspect Shoots Self After a Short Pursuit




Eugene, Ore. - Shortly before 11 a.m. today, November 7, a high-risk suspect wanted out of another jurisdiction was spotted in Eugene. 

Police units responded, along with EPD SWAT, which was in the area on an unrelated call-out and was diverted to the call. Units got behind the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop at W. 11th and Garfield. 

The suspect fled about two blocks before shooting himself as officers closed in.  The suspect was found deceased of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

No officers were involved with the shots fired. Eugene Police is conducting a death investigation. The suspect’s name is being withheld pending family notifications. Case 23-16804
