Semi-truck Driver Arrested by K9 Unit after DUII Hit and Run Crash

Eugene, Or. - At 4:58 p.m. on April 7, Eugene Police units responded to a hit and run, where a semi-truck was reported to have struck a Jeep at Crescent Avenue and Coburg Road. The driver is reported to have gotten out of the truck, appeared intoxicated, and left the scene headed east on foot.

A Jeep Wrangler had been damaged during the collision at the intersection of Crescent Avenue and Shadow View Drive after the Freightliner semi ran a four-way stop. The driver, later identified as Roger Lavern Dale, age 66, of Winston, also caused damage to a fence, tree, and masonry work in the 3300 block of Arlington Lane.

K9 Officer Jake Thomas and Ayk responded to the scene and went to work. The team located Dale hiding behind a trash dumpster in the 2800 block of Crescent Avenue. After an investigation, Dale was arrested and transported to Lane County Jail on charges of DUII, Reckless Driving, and Hit and Run-Property damage.

The driver of the Jeep, a 29-year-old Eugene man, did not require medical transport from the scene.
