Springfield Police Blotter With Mugshotsfor May 6-7, 2013
This is a sampling of police activity that occurred in Springfield during that time period, and not representative of all activity that occurred.
Monday, May 6
3:18 a.m. – A resident in the 1200 block of E St. said she was in the bathroom and heard what sounded like someone jumped over her fence. Police showed up a few minutes later and found no one in her yard or in the immediate area.
6:41 a.m. – A bicycle was stolen from a residence in Monta Loma Mobile Home Park in the 2100 block of Laura St.
8:45 a.m. – A rock was thrown through the window of a Dodge Caravan parked in the 1100 block of 4thSt.
8:56 a.m. – A resident in the 600 block of Cloverleaf Loop said he let a male subject stay at his residence for the past four days, but wanted him to leave. He gave the subject a key to his house, however. The subject refused to give the key back when asked for it. The caller was considering having the 29-year-old male subject become his caretaker, but the subject doesn’t have a caretaker card yet. The caller also reported the subject is on probation, is volatile, very aggressive and uses drugs. Police spoke to the subject, who told police he did some work at the residence, but the caller did not want to pay him for it.
10:44 a.m. – A brown pit bull was running around at large in the 900 block of S. 37th Pl.
11:35 a.m. – A woman in the 500 block of 18th St. reported a male subject had her cell phone and wouldn’t give it back. She said the 26-year-old male subject had been up for a couple of days on meth, but he eventually did give her back her phone, and then left.
1:35 p.m. – A resident in the 2800 block of Pheasant Blvd. told police a tan Buick pulled up in front of the residence. An elderly male got out of the Buick, went out and opened the trunk, and an elderly female came out and got into the passenger seat of the Buick.
2:06 p.m. – A caller at Wal-Mart in the 2600 block of Olympic St. reported a Pomeranian dog was inside of a silver 2002 Honda Civic for about 30 minutes, The dog was panting heavily and barking.
4:06 p.m. – A 33-year-old male subject, well known to police, was asked to leave Bright Oak Meats in the 600 block of Main St. He refused and sat near the dumpster. Police arrived a few minutes later, and the subject left on foot with no further incident.
6:00 p.m. – Jeffery Overman, 29, was arrested on warrants for robbery and possession of methamphetamine at 12th and C Streets.
6:29 p.m. – Jason Swaim, 27, was arrested on warrants for eluding police and theft at S. 54th and Main Streets.
9:22 p.m. – Andrea Porter, 36, was cited for driving while suspended in the 3100 block of Gateway St.
10:00 p.m. – A caller at a business in the 5600 block of Main St. reported a male subject grabbed a female on her wrists, then grabbed an employee on her arm. Another male then placed the male subject in a chokehold and pushed him outside. Police located Johnny Carroll, 41, at a nearby 76 station, and arrested him.
10:38 a.m. – A female subject stole some items from Castle Superstore in the 3200 block of Gateway St.
Tuesday, May 7
12:19 a.m. – A caller reported a suspicious vehicle parked in the 700 block of S. 68th St. There were two subjects in the vehicle, which had been parked for about 15 minutes, and they were possibly smoking. Police did not locate the vehicle in a check of the area.
2:40 a.m. – A resident in the 2100 block of 2nd St. saw a male subject prowling into cars, and confronted him. The subject left, then went to a neighboring residence and asked the neighbor if he had a lighter. The caller then confronted the subject again, with a flashlight. The subject left. He was spoken to by police and advised on his behavior.
7:28 a.m. – A pit bull was found running on Hwy. 126 near Pioneer Parkway. The dog was returned to its rightful owner.
11:34 a.m. – Thomas Moore II, 39, was cited for driving while suspended at Main and S. 32nd Streets.
1:21 p.m. – A cocker spaniel mix was found in the 2200 block of 37th St. It was missing a patch of hair on its rump.
3:53 p.m. – Police responded to a dispute in the 2300 block of Main St. between a male and a female. The male was yelling that the female had stabbed him. Police determined no stabbing had occurred, but did cite Kayla Walters, 21, for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
5:50 p.m. – A caller reported a suspicious looking make subject watching children at Willamalane Park in the 1200 block of G St. The caller said the male subject is frequently there doing so, either sitting on the bench or in his vehicle. The subject was described as a white male between 35-45 years old, 5’8” – 6’ tall with a slender build and has long brown hair in a ponytail.
6:42 p.m. – Robert Burns, 26, was arrested in the 800 block of Oakdale Ave. on warrants for strangulation, fourth-degree assault and menacing.
7:28 p.m. – A caller reported a male subject in the 6600 block of A St. had approached a 5-year-old girl and asked her to help him deliver mail.
8:48 p.m. – A woman at Starbucks in the 3300 block of Gateway St. said she was approached by a young juvenile who offered her “molly.” The caller, presumably already under the influence of caffeine, declined the offer of ecstasy, and was being followed by the juvenile.
8:49 p.m. – Joshua Knapp, 31, was arrested at S. 51st Pl. and Bluebelle Way on a warrant for possession of methamphetamine.
9:55 p.m. – A caller reported seeing an 11-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy sitting alone in a vehicle parked in front of the Driftwood Bar and Grill in the 5000 block of Main St. The vehicle was a light blue four-door Oldsmobile.
11:40 p.m. – Arielle Cronin, 22, was arrested at 4th and A Streets in a Yamhill County warrant for possession of dangerous drugs.
