Eugene Police Are Made Aware of School Threat Circulating Nationally

Image
Eugene, Ore. - The Eugene Police Department and 4J School District have become aware of a social media post circulating the community stating, “This Friday September 15th will open fire on schools”. The post goes on to say the event will occur at “North”.  An initial investigation suggests this post has gone viral across the country.  We have not confirmed its origin however, the details of the post do not suggest any schools in our area are in danger.   In an abundance of caution, Eugene Police will provide extra patrols in the area of North Eugene High School in hopes of making students and their families feel safer. If anyone becomes aware of a threat, they are asked to call local law-enforcement. Posting and resharing on social media is not a direct contact with law enforcement and delays investigation into a potential issue.  (Information from EPD) Sponsored by:  Preston’s Painting LLC Please help keep independent journalism alive with a donation to my Venmo: @Michael-Weber-379
