Woman Reports Occupied Burglary Incident, Man Arrested

Eugene, Ore. - At 3:34 a.m. on June 27, a woman living in an apartment in the 600 block of W. 4th Avenue called 911 after she saw someone on her surveillance cam trying her doorknob. Shortly after that, a female resident in another apartment called to report an unknown man inside her apartment. She reported she confronted the man, and he left on foot but was still in the complex.

Eugene Police officers and a Lane County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit quickly arrived and the K9 tracked the man to another apartment. The K9 deputy and an EPD officer observed the suspect, identified as Aaron Allen Harney, age 33, inside. It was discovered that while he was inside that residence, Harney put on the resident’s clothing, which he was wearing when arrested. Items in the apartment were gone through and the apartment was in disarray. The apartment’s resident was not present during Harney’s entry.

Harney was safely taken into custody and lodged at the jail for two counts of Burglary in the First Degree and three warrants. Property was returned to the apartment residents. Case 23-09335
