Man Arrested for Harassment, Resisting Arrest

 




Eugene, Ore. - At approximately 12:10 p.m. on July 7, Eugene Police received a call of a trespasser at the 700 block of Willamette Street.

Markus Sterling Fletcher, age 48 was seen shoving items through a mail slot and had previously been trespassing. When confronted at the location by a tenant, Fletcher lunged at and struck the tenant with his belongings.

Fletcher was soon spotted by Eugene officers near W. Seventh and Willamette Street. Two officers attempted to place Fletcher under arrest at which point Fletcher fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, several officers managed to detain Fletcher. Fletcher kicked officers while he was being placed in handcuffs and officers sustained minor injuries.

Fletcher was transported to Lane County Jail on previous warrants as well as new charges for harassment, menacing, criminal mischief, resisting arrest, criminal trespass and escape from custody.
