Pleasant Hill Registered Sex Offender Faces 27 New Charges in Vancouver Juvenile Exploitation Case

 


Vancouver, Wash. - Vancouver Police Department detectives arrested 38-year-old Samuel David Sohlman, a registered sex offender from Pleasant Hill, Oregon, after an investigation revealed he had allegedly been communicating with and exploiting a juvenile in Vancouver.
Prior Convictions

Sohlman has a documented criminal history in Oregon. In 2011, he pleaded guilty in Multnomah County to
Sex Abuse in the Second Degree, a felony. In 2021, he pleaded guilty in Lane County to Sodomy in the Third Degree (felony) and Purchasing Sex with a Minor (1st offense, felony).

The latest investigation began after someone close to the victim reported concerning messages between the teen and an adult male. Officers collaborated with detectives from the Special Investigations Unit, Children’s Justice Center, and Digital Evidence Cybercrime Unit.
Detectives learned the suspect planned to meet the victim again at a local middle school and took him into custody when he arrived on June 15, 2026.

Felony Charges
  • Commercial Sex Abuse of a Minor (2 counts) – Class B / Class C Felonies
  • Sexual Exploitation of a Minor (Photograph/Live Performance) (14 counts) – Class B Felonies
  • Possess Depictions of a Minor 1 Engaged in Sexually Explicit Conduct (4 counts) – Class B Felonies
  • Controlled Substance - Distribute Narcotic/Meth/Flunitrazepam to a Minor (1 count) – Class A Felony
  • Rape of a Child - 3rd Degree (1 count) – Class C Felony
  • Communicate with a Minor for Immoral Purposes (with Previous Conviction) (3 counts) – Class C Felonies
Gross Misdemeanor Charges
  • Rape of a Child - 3rd Degree (1 count) – Gross Misdemeanor

His next court date is scheduled for July 6, 2026, at 9:00 AM. He remains held in the Clark County Jail.
The Vancouver Police Department emphasized that cases involving the exploitation of children remain a priority, and officers will continue working to identify and hold offenders accountable.
