Man Arrested After Fleeing Stop

Eugene, Or. - At approximately 8:40 p.m. on February 8, two officers on routine patrol near the intersection of Lawrence Street and W. Broadway stopped Michael Quinn Lowell , age 31, as they knew had active warrants, including one felony warrant for his arrest.  When one of the officers advised Lowell he was being detained, he took off on foot and ran toward W. 8th Avenue. Multiple Eugene Police units, an EPD drone operator, and a Springfield K9 responded to help. With the help of bystanders, officers learned Lowell had run into the nearby home of an acquaintance in the 600 block of Madison. Lowell made his way onto the roof of a garage and was spotted by officers.  An officer was able to get some rapport with Lowell and he ultimately came down from the roof and was taken into custody without incident. Domestic Call Leads to Arrest

Eugene, Or. - On Feb. 7th, police were called to a domestic issue, the suspect, Larry Frank Cardiel , age 63, was reported to have locked himself inside a garage but was trying to get back inside the house. Cardiel 2011 mugshot Cardiel was reported to have been intoxicated and threatened family members with a knife. The son got him to back off and Cardiel retreated to the garage.  When officers got to the house, Cardiel opened the garage door and was slow to respond but did eventually comply and was taken into custody. He was in possession of a spring-assisted knife, which as a convicted felon on probation he is not allowed to possess.  He was transported to Lane County Jail and lodged on Menacing APA, Unlawful Use Weapon, and Felon in Possession of Restricted Weapon. Three Arrested After Shots Fired Incident at Willagillespie Elementary Parking Lot

Eugene, or. - At 3:29 p.m. on February 7, callers reported shots fired from a blue Ford Explorer in the Willagillespie Elementary School parking lot.  Two vehicles were involved in the incident and the suspect vehicle from which shots were fired fled northbound on Delta. Eugene Police patrol and detective units responded to the incident.   A short time later the Explorer was spotted by Eugene Police and the Lane County Sheriff's Office. A pursuit ensued until the vehicle attempted to drive across a field and into a creek near Greenhill north of Royal. The three Explorer occupants were compliant and subsequently arrested with charges as below.   There were faculty members and some children on the property during the incident, but no injuries were reported from the shots fired. Traffic Stop Yields More Than 100 Grams Of Meth

Eugene, Or. - At around 8:30 p.m. on February 6 a Eugene Police patrol officer was at West 6th Avenue and Garfield Street. A recruit officer and his field training officer saw a bicyclist riding the wrong way on the road and without proper lights and this presented a safety issue for him and other travelers.  The recruit officer stopped him, but the bicyclist gave a false name initially. Subsequently the bicyclist provided his real name as Christopher Alan Tafoya , age 48. Officers discovered he had a confirmed Grand Theft warrant out of California and arrested him. During the investigation and arrest, officers located more than 100 grams of suspected methamphetamine inside Tafoya’s backpack that later also tested positive for fentanyl. Jury Selection Starts Today For 2022 Arson Case

Eugene, Ore. - Jury selection starts today for Avery Jerome Boyle 's arson trial. A material witness, Richard James Church , was transferred from the Oregon State Penitentiary to testify in this case. Boyle is accused of starting an early morning fire at a quaudplex on Bethel Drive. Many of the residents were trapped in the building as the fire was started downstairs outside a lower apartment driving flames up the stairway to the second floor.   ***Original information*** Eugene, Or. - Sept. 1st, 2022, A suspect has been arrested in this case. Avery Jerome Boyle, age 47, of Eugene, was  arrested on the following:  Arson in the First Degree, five counts of Reckless Endangering, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, Felon in Possession of a Restricted Weapon.   Eugene, Or. - At 9:28 p.m. on February 3, a caller from Everyone’s Market, 1245 Echo Hollow Road, reported a robbery. A man robbed the store using a firearm.  He was last seen eastbound on Fuller Avenue. Pedestrian - Vehicle Crash HWY 99 Near Side Street

Eugene, Ore. - At 7:04 p.m. on February 2, a caller to 911 reported a pedestrian/vehicle crash in the 500 block of Hwy. 99 North (near Side Street).  Eugene Springfield Fire and Eugene Police responded. Eugene Police arrived and began CPR on the pedestrian, a 44-year-old man, and ESF took over emergency medical care upon arrival shortly thereafter. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital.  The 47-year-old driver remained on scene. Intoxication on the part of the pedestrian appears to be a factor in the crash.
