Lane County Sheriff's K9 Assists Restraining Order Violation Arrest

Junction City, Or. - On the afternoon of June 19th, Lane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 23900 block of High Pass Road for a violation of a restraining order by Jeremy Allen Johnson , 35.  K9 Hektor When deputies arrived at the victim’s residence, Johnson fled. Firefighters Respond to Food Truck Fire

Eugene, Or. -  Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a food truck fire located at 90330 HWY 99 North in Eugene Friday Morning.   Firefighters were called to the scene at 8:51 AM.  Initially reposted as a small structure fire, ESF responded with 3 engines and truck and chief officer. The fire was contained to the food truck and two bystanders were treated for smoke and extinguisher inhalation.   The cause is under investigation. Witnesses Sought in Brazen Daylight Rape Near 99 W. 10th Avenue

Eugene, Or. - A Eugene Police Violent Crimes detective is asking for witnesses to come forward with information about a broad-daylight rape case that happened between noon and 12:30 p.m. on June 17, in the Broadway Alley/Willamette Alley area, near W. 10th Avenue.  The surveillance video shows several possible witnesses passing by around the time of the rape. The Broadway Alley and Willamette Alley is behind Cowfish and the Atrium Building - in parking lot area. Fatal Crash - HWY 58

Lane County, Ore. - On Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 3:08 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Hwy 58, near milepost 46, in Lane County. The preliminary investigation indicated an eastbound Ford F-350, operated by Will Ed Bryson Jr. (77) of Klamath Falls, left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a tree.  The operator of the Ford (W. Bryson) was declared deceased while in transport to an area hospital. The passenger of the Ford, Lynda Ellen Bryson (78) of Klamath Falls, was transported by ground ambulance and life-flighted to an area hospital. The highway was not impacted during the on-scene investigation. Animal Neglect Convict Sentenced to 4 Years in Prison

Lane County, Or. - In 2020, Creswell-area resident Raina Ott entered into a deferred sentencing agreement related to neglect of horses. In January 2023, she was found to have violated the agreement. Ott was convicted, given a 45-day jail sentence, and was put on probation. She was prohibited from any dealings or contact with animals. Between April 2023 and January 2024, Ott committed a series of probation violations and crimes. Ott purchased nearly 100 head of cattle at livestock auctions in Linn and Lane County using fake names, then sold them via social media. The check used to finalize one purchase bounced. The cows were not returned, nor was the balance paid. In a separate case, Ott switched price tags on items she then purchased at an animal care supply store in Eugene. The total loss to the store was just under $1,000. Oregon State Police- Officer Involved River Ave. Shooting

Eugene, Or. - On Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at 4:26 p.m., an Oregon State Trooper conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of River Avenue and State Route 569 (Beltline Highway) in Eugene.  During the encounter, the driver exited and attempted to obtain a firearm from the passenger side of the vehicle and a less lethal force option (Taser) was deployed but was not successful. The suspect did not comply with verbal commands and was able to obtain the firearm resulting in the trooper shooting the subject with his department-issued firearm.  Emergency medical aid was immediately provided and medical personnel from Eugene-Springfield Fire Department responded; however, the subject was declared deceased at the scene. The trooper was not injured during the incident and has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation by the Lane County Inter-Agency Deadly Force Investigation Team (IDFIT). Wrong Way Driver Causes Crash

Springfield, Or. - On Sunday, June 9th at 11:45pm both Eugene and Springfield Police departments began to receive calls reporting a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of highway 126 in Eugene. Officers from both agencies responded but were unable to locate and stop the vehicle before it collided with another vehicle.  The crash occurred just west of the Pioneer Parkway overpass in Springfield. The driver and single occupant of the vehicle that was struck were transported to Riverbend hospital for treatment of possible life-threatening injuries. \ The driver and passenger of the vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes were not seriously injured and are cooperating with the investigation.
