Bicyclist Injured in Eugene Hit-and-Run, Suspect Arrested



EUGENE, Ore. — A 55-year-old bicyclist was injured in a hit-and-run crash involving a vehicle at the Night Inn Motel on West 6th Avenue, according to the Eugene Police Department. The incident occurred at 6:11 p.m. on September 6, prompting a swift response from officers.
Upon arrival, police found the injured bicyclist, who declined medical treatment from the Eugene-Springfield Fire Department. Witnesses reported that the driver, identified as 32-year-old Joseph Charles Pecue, briefly stopped to check on the bicyclist and moved the bicycle to the sidewalk before leaving the scene.
Hotel surveillance footage captured the vehicle, which was registered to Pecue. Officers located him at his residence, and after further investigation, Pecue was arrested for felony hit-and-run and cited for failing to stop at a driveway or sidewalk. 
He was booked into Lane County Jail. The case remains under investigation as case number 25-14513.
