Man Arrested After Standoff in Eugene Domestic Dispute

EUGENE, Ore. — A 39-year-old man, Matthew Ryan Pyle, was arrested early Friday morning following a domestic dispute and standoff at a residence in the 1400 block of W. 3rd Avenue, according to the Eugene Police Department.

At 3:23 a.m., Central Lane 911 received a call with a woman and man yelling on an open line. Officers responded in emergency mode due to a history of prior calls from the address. The woman safely left the residence, but Pyle, who had an outstanding warrant for violating a restraining order and assault charges, remained inside, potentially armed with guns and knives.
The Eugene Police Crisis Negotiation Team attempted to communicate with Pyle, who responded intermittently but refused to exit. SWAT, drone units, and K9 teams cleared the main residence and searched the property, locating Pyle in a trailer. He surrendered and was taken into custody at 7:17 a.m.
Pyle faces charges of Assault in the Fourth Degree under the Abuse Prevention Act and Violation of a Restraining Order.
