LCSO Attempted Rape Suspect Now Charged in EPD Double Rape Case Too


Eugene, Or. - UPDATE: Jail records show a new double rape case now on Boyd's jail records. Jail records also show that this is an EPD case. 

Boyd was charged with the EPD double rape case while Boyd was in jail for the LCSO attempted rape case. (See all charges below)

EPD had this to say about the case: "Boyd, age 50, was arrested on June 6 for a reported rape and strangulation of a young woman he met in Eugene in April 2024." ~ EPD

Veneta, Or. - On May 30th, Lane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of East 24th Avenue and Henderson Avenue regarding an attempted rape.  

The victim was able to provide a description of the suspect and his vehicle.  Area law enforcement was notified of the suspect and vehicle, which had left the area before deputies arrived.  Detectives began investigating the case. 

On June 1st, a deputy noticed a matching vehicle while in Veneta and identified the owner as Bobby Allen Boyd, 50.  After conducting additional follow up, detectives arrested Boyd on June 4th and lodged him in the Lane County Jail for Attempted Rape in the First Degree, Strangulation, and Assault in the Fourth Degree.

Eugene, Or. - At 3 a.m. on September 1, Eugene Police received reports of a loud dispute with shots fired outside a home near Royal Avenue and Ruskin Street. Units arrived to find a woman, Haley Leann Mackin , age 23, deceased with gunshot wounds.  Eugene Police Violent Crimes Unit identified Brandon Daniel Smith , age 24, as the suspect. Eugene, Or. - Eugene Police Street Crimes Unit is asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect, Shayla Kaylawray Bennett , age 29.   Bennett has a nationwide, full-extradition warrant. She is wanted for Failure to Appear for Child Neglect in the First Degree, Possession of Heroin -  Commercial Offense, and other controlled substance possession offenses. 13-Year-Old Calls 911 on Mother Driving Recklessly

Springfield, Or. - On Monday, August 25, 2024, Springfield Police Department Officers were made aware of a blue Subaru that was being driven recklessly through red lights and traveling eastbound on Beltline towards Springfield.  The Subaru was reported by an 13-year-old juvenile in the vehicle, who had called 911 to report that their mother, Camie Colleen Sorensen , age 43, was driving recklessly and looking for “water to drive into”.  An officer positioned themselves in the Gateway area, in the event that the Subaru entered Springfield. Shortly after, the Subaru passed the officer before briefly yielding at a red light. The vehicle then accelerated away at a high rate of speed as the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop.  The vehicle continued southbound on Pioneer Parkway West, weaving through traffic, and driving dangerously.
