Eugene Couple Counterfeiting Currency Arrested for Forgery

Eugene, Or. - On February 29, Eugene Police’s Street Crimes Unit served a search warrant with EPD SWAT, Drones, and CNT teams in the 3600 block of West 13th Avenue.  The search warrant was the culmination of a forgery investigation and evidence seized included forged U.S. currency, printers, and ink. Christian Ronald Batchelder , age 31, and Emma Joy Connelly , age 24, both Eugene residents, were arrested and lodged at the Lane County Jail on charges of Forgery in the First Degree. Betchelder also has the charge of 144.350 - PAROLE VIOLATION for assault on a PO. Illegal Hash Oil Extraction Explosion Injures Two

Eugene, Or. -   Eugene Springfield Firefighters responses to an explosion at the 2-Bridges Homes For Good Location located at 599 E Broadway in Eugene Thursday Morning.   At 07:05 AM, Firefighters responded for a fire alarm at the location.  On their arrival Firefighters found evidence of an explosion at the occupancy with two identified patients.  Two adults were evaluated and one transported to the hospital for burn injuries.  The explosion and fire activated the sprinkler system which extinguished the fire.   An investigation determined the explosion was a result of illegal hash oil extraction.  A fire watch has been ordered while the sprinkler system is restored.   No other occupants were injured or displaced. Deputies Need Your Help in Florence Area Shooting Investigation

Florence, Or. - On Monday at about 10:30 p.m., Deputies responded with Florence Police to the area of the Goose Pasture Staging Area on South Jetty Road for a report of a male who was shot.   The victim had been struck by gunfire while inside his trailer, causing significant injury.  He, the victim, was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition.   Detectives have conducted extensive follow up on the case, but have been unable to locate the suspected shooter. Woman On Probation For 2020 Animal Neglect Conviction Cited for Animal Neglect Again

Lane County, Or. - On Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, Deputies responded with Lane County Animal Services to an address in the 34400 block of Highway 58.  LCAS had received complaints of malnourished animals from area residents. The owner of the animals, Raina McKenzie Ott , was known to be on probation from a 2020 conviction for 11 counts of Animal Neglect in the Second Degree in which she was sentenced to 60 months of probation. While LCAS typically does initial contact on animal neglect cases,  LCSO assisted due to the likely probation violation and criminal neglect of the animals. Deputies contacted Ott at the residence and discovered several malnourished cows and emaciated companion animals living in deplorable conditions. Several decomposing cow carcasses were also found. LCAS rehoused the companion animals and is working with Ott to remove the remaining cows from the property.  Possession of the cows and companion animals was in violation of her probation as well. Man Arrested After Stealing Truck, Fleeing Police, Ramming Police Vehicle

Eugene, Or. - At 6:19 a.m. on February 28, Eugene Police was dispatched to a call about a Chevrolet Silverado that had just been stolen from a man’s driveway in the 300 block of Wilkie Street. An officer spotted the stolen truck going eastbound on W. 7th Avenue near Van Buren Street and then several EPD officers responded to the area. The officer who had spotted the vehicle initiated a traffic stop but the driver, later identified as Freddie Lee Davis aka: Freddie Lee Jenkins, age 44, accelerated away.  Involved truck being towed There was a short pursuit, and officers attempted to forcibly stop the truck. Davis was able to evade this and then rammed the officer’s vehicle. The truck became inoperable, and Davis was safely taken into custody.  Davis was transported to Lane County Jail and lodged on charges including Reckless Driving and Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, as well as two warrants. Suspect in Custody on Multiple Measure 11 Sex Crimes - Albany

Albany, Or. - Today, Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 11:23am Albany Fire Department notified Albany Police they were responding to a residence in the 1800 block of SW 16th Ave for a trauma injury to the leg that was a result of an assault.  Officers arrived and determined the suspect had attempted to sexually assault a female at the location and fled on foot approximately 20 minutes prior to the 911 call. Albany Fire Personnel transported her to a local area hospital for further treatment of her injuries.  Officers and Detectives began an immediate search of the area for the suspect, who was identified by the victim as Brandon Taylor Beckner , age 37 of Albany.   Officers continued to search the area and alerted the community via Nixle text alerts and social media messages. At approximately 1:40pm, a resident called to report a suspicious male was hiding in his backyard. Lane County Investigation Leads to 20-Year Sentence for Idaho Man

Cottage Grove, Or. - In late 2017, a ranger with the Bureau of Land Management contacted a teenage juvenile at an illegal camp near Sharps Creek, Cottage Grove. The juvenile told the ranger she had been living there with an adult male for months.   Lucas A. Lloyd - 2018  The camp was in disarray. Concerned for her well-being, the ranger contacted the Department of Human Services. DHS had an open case involving the juvenile. She was taken into DHS custody and placed with her mother. Due to the condition of the campsite, the adult male, Lucas Anthony Lloyd , was arrested and lodged at the Lane County Jail for Littering within 100 Yards of a Waterway.   Detectives with the Lane County Sheriff’s Office began investigating. The juvenile was interviewed by the Kids FIRST Children’s Advocacy Center. Although she appeared uncomfortable and tested positive for methamphetamine, she did not disclose any abuse. Dozens of Unwarranted 911 Calls Result in Arrest

Springfield, Or. - On February 25, 2024, the Springfield Police department began receiving 911 emergency calls from a male suspect living on the 300 Block of E Street in Springfield.  The suspect failed to articulate an emergency during each call and was advised by 911 dispatchers regarding the misuse of the 911 emergency system. The suspect continued making calls to 911, prompting a police response to the caller’s residence.  The suspect refused to answer the door and was again advised by officers to cease the unwarranted 911 calls. The suspect continued calling and would not answer his door for responding officers. In a 36-hour period the suspect made more than 25 calls to 911, tying-up valuable emergency response resources in the process.  On February 26, 2024, officers applied for and were granted a search warrant to enter the suspects’ residence and place him under arrest for the continued improper use of the emergency communication system. Springfield, Or. - In June of 2023, Springfield Police Department Officers began investigating Shawn Michael Wilder , age 34, in relation to Domestic Violence allegations.  Thanks to the work of those involved, Wilder was arrested in October of 2023 for Assault APA, Menacing APA, and Coercion.  Through the initial investigation, it was further discovered that Wilder was in possession of child pornography. Additionally, Wilder was found to be in possession of approximately 34 pounds of illicit psilocybin mushrooms.  Wilder was manufacturing and delivering the illegal substances within 1000 feet of Springfield Elementary School.  On February 22, 2024, Wilder was taken into custody without incident and lodged at the Lane County Jail for the charges listed below. Man Arrested For DUII After Driving Wrong Way On I-105

Eugene, Or. - Shortly before 2:30 a.m. on February 22, an officer spotted a truck traveling eastbound at high speed in the westbound lanes of I-105.   Several EPD units responded to the area as the involved vehicle continued into Springfield.  An EPD lieutenant was in the right place at the right time and successfully a deployed tire deflation device. The vehicle slowed and an EPD lieutenant and a Springfield Police officer pinned the vehicle together on I-105 near Mohawk without injuries to any of the involved parties, and no significant damage to vehicles. Officers contacted the driver, Harrison Don Hertig , age 29, of Eugene, and suspected he was impaired. After an investigation by an EPD officer working DUII grant overtime,  Hertig was arrested and transported to Lane County Jail and lodged on charges including DUII, Reckless Driving, and Reckless Endangering. Springfield Police impounded Hortig’s vehicle. EPD is grateful for Springfield Police’s assistance in apprehending Hertig. 

Former Child Star Zachery Ty Bryan Arrested in California for DUI

Riverside County, California - Former child start Zachery Ty Bryan was arrested yesterday at around 2 am, Feb, 17, 2024 for a felony DUI and contempt of court.  It appears from jail records that Bryan's combined bail is/was $65,000. In California, a bail bond company will post a defendant's bail for a non-refundable fee of 10% of the bail amount. If the defendant does not appear in court, the bail bond agency can search for the defendant in order to bring them to court using a bounty hunter. Bryan - 2021 mugshot - Oregon Bryan was convicted back in Oct. of 2023 here in Lane County for a single crime of assault in the forth degree felony, domestic. Early Morning Crash Results in Fatality

  Springfield, Or. - On February 18, 2024, at 0238 hours officers from the Springfield Police department were dispatched to a reported two vehicle traffic crash on Highway 126 eastbound, just west of Mohawk Blvd. A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2000 Honda Civic entered the highway from Mohawk Blvd traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes. The Honda was struck head-on by a semi-truck pulling a trailer. The driver of the Honda was declared deceased at the scene. The names of the involved are currently being withheld pending family notification. Three Roseburg Men Arrested for Burglary and Kidnapping

Riddle, Ore. - Three Roseburg men were arrested Friday afternoon for Burglary, Kidnapping and a number of other crimes.  On Friday, February 16, 2024, around 10:00 a.m., 9-1-1 dispatchers received a report of a disturbance in the 200-block of Maple Street in Riddle. Callers were reporting a physical disturbance where three men were assaulting another. One caller reported that the men were applying zip-ties to the male to restrain him.  Deputies arrived on scene and were able to determine that 25-year-old Justin Daniel Devlaeminck, 53-year-old Daniel Terrance Devlaeminck, and 26-year-old Austin Lee Lyman broke into a residence in an effort to “evict” the 22-year-old victim. Justin Devlaeminck pointed a firearm at the victim and Daniel Devlaeminck broke a window to the residence. All three suspects entered the home and began to assault the male victim who tried to escape, but was pulled back. Eugene Police Violent Crimes Unit and Lane County Medical Examiner have investigated and found the skull to be  a plastic skull replica. Fatal Pedestrian VS Vehicle Crash Beltline

Eugene, Or. - At 11:45 p.m. on February 16, Eugene Police and Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a pedestrian-vehicle crash on eastbound Beltline Hwy., near the I-5 exit.  A motorhome’s driver reported they had been driving in the middle lane and hit a person in the roadway. The pedestrian is deceased and their identity is being withheld until family can be notified. The motorhome’s driver stayed on scene and was cooperative. ODOT provided traffic control while EPD’s Major Collision Investigation team responded to the crash to investigate. Two LCSO DUII Arrests

Eugene, Ore. - Several recent cases highlight the proactive work our deputies accomplish in between calls for service to keep our roads safe.  This month deputies have already investigated 11 DUIIs total and assisted partner agencies with additional DUII arrests.  Please designate a driver or use a rideshare if you choose to drink. If you see a driver you think is impaired, please call 9-1-1! 02/15/24 - LCSO Case #24-0806 - DUII Apprehended by K9 Bruno On Thursday night, a deputy attempted a traffic stop in the 4500 block of Franklin Boulevard .  The vehicle drove into an RV park and the driver fled on foot.  Eugene Police and Springfield Police responded with deputies and set a perimeter.  K9 Bruno was deployed, and less than 10 minutes later he located the suspect, Cody Wallace Hanstad of Springfield.  Hanstad showed signs of impairment and was arrested without further incident.  He was lodged at the Lane County Jail on charges of Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, Reckles

Man Arrested After Body Slamming Police Vehicle After Traffic Stop

  Eugene, Or. - At 8:55 a.m. on February 15, a Eugene Police patrol officer conducted a traffic stop near W. 7th Avenue and Polk Street after spotting a driver who was going faster than the posted speed in a vehicle with a loud exhaust.  The officer contacted the driver, Dillan Eugene Martin , age 32, of Eugene. Martin argued about the stop, tried to get out of his vehicle, and slammed the door shut when told to stay inside. There was a female bystander who appeared to be filming the encounter and interjected herself into the conversation while the officer was speaking with Martin, forcing the officer to divide his attention. A cover officer arrived and stood by while the first officer issued Martin a traffic citation. As the two officers tried to leave, Martin threw open his car door and got out of his car. He initially walked away from the officer who issued the citation and then started walking toward him. He appeared angry and the officer tried to deescalate the situation by leavin

  Springfield, Or. - On February 15th, 2024 at 3:51 PM Officers and Detectives with the Springfield Police Department responded to a residence in the 4600 block of Aster Street regarding a shooting incident.  Officers located three family members, one of which was deceased due to a gunshot wound.  It was learned there had been a family dispute that led to the shooting incident.   After collecting evidence from the home, statements from witnesses, and statements from the involved, Jack Edward Smith was taken into custody without incident and lodged at the Lane County Jail for the charge of Murder II.   Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Springfield Police Department at 541-726-3721. Man Arrested For DUII After Hit And Run Crash

Eugene, Or. - At 1:04 a.m. on February 15, Eugene Police officers responded to a hit and run incident at W. 6th Avenue and Charnelton Street.  The suspect drove off eastbound on the train tracks near E. 5th Avenue and High Street. The area was quickly flooded with officers looking for the truck. Multiple other callers reported the truck had gone through stop signs and had been driving erratically prior to the crash. While an officer was speaking with the victim of the hit and run, the suspect drove through the intersection past them. Eugene Police officers attempted a traffic stop near the old EWEB building. However, the driver, later identified as Dylan Matthew Hoffman , age 22, of Eugene, continued onto Ferry St Bridge.  An officer was able to maneuver his patrol vehicle into a position to get Hoffman stopped.. Hoffman was safely taken into custody. During an investigation, officers suspected Hoffman was intoxicated and conducted further investigation. He was transported to Lane Coun

Suspect From Coastal Farm Burglary Arrested

Eugene, Or. - On Wednesday February 14, Eugene Police Property Crimes detectives were conducting follow-up on a burglary from Coastal Farm. During the investigation, at around 10:51 a.m., detectives identified one of the three burglary suspects as 29-year-old Jesse Alan Rook . Detectives spotted Rook getting into a vehicle and began to follow him while additional units responded to the area to assist.  Rook As detectives followed Rook, he began driving erratically. Rook was reported to have been driving on the sidewalks and the wrong way on one-way streets. Rook eventually crashed his vehicle at 7th Avenue and Lawrence and fled the vehicle on foot. He was located hiding under a tarp in the area and was taken into custody without further incident.  Rook was lodged at the Lane County Jail on charges of Burglary in the Second Degree, Robbery in the Third Degree, Elude, three counts of ID Theft, and Criminal Mischief in the First Degree.  Case 24-02094  Information from EPD Sponsored by: 

Shots Fired Call Near Valley River - ARREST MADE

Eugene, Or. - Since February 12, when this incident occurred, Eugene Police detectives have been working on identifying and locating the person responsible for shooting at the 4-Runner in the Valley River Center Parking lot.  During the evening hours of  February 14, detectives, with the assistance of Eugene Police SWAT team, served a search warrant on the residence of Henry Cooper , a 20-year-old Eugene resident. During the service of the search warrant Cooper was arrested and later lodged in jail for the following charges: 1. Attempted Assault in the First Degree 2. Unlawful Use of a Weapon 3. Reckless Endangering (three counts) The investigation revealed there had been a verbal exchange between the people in the 4-Runner and Cooper that led to the shooting.  There is not any reason to believe an ongoing threat to the community exists based on this incident. Assault Suspect Arrested after Shooting in Glenwood

  Eugene, Or. - On Saturday, Feb. 10th, around 12 p.m., Deputies were at McKenzie Willamette Hospital on an unrelated case when a nurse advised there was a victim with a gunshot wound that was being transported to the ER.  The victim had sustained life-threatening injuries from a high-powered air rifle.  Several witnesses arrived with the victim and cooperated with the investigation.  The incident had occurred in a gravel area east of Henderson Avenue and E. 24th Avenue, Eugene.  Deputies responded along with Oregon State Police, Springfield Police with a K9, and Eugene Police.  They were able to locate the suspect and monitor his movements with a Sheriff’s Office drone.  Deputies, troopers, and officers moved in and safely arrested the suspect without further incident.   He was later identified as Robert Lyle Piper , 66, of Eugene.  He was lodged at the Lane County Jail for Assault in the First Degree.  Additional charges may be filed as the investigation is ongoing.  The victim is in

Linn County Sheriff's Office Investigating Human Skull Found

Brownsville, Or. - Linn County Sheriff Michelle Duncan reports yesterday on February 9, 2024, at 9:38 a.m., a caller reported finding skeletal remains on the property he resides on.   The property is located on rural acreage off of Highway 228, outside of Brownsville. Deputies responded and found a human skull in an area where brush was being cleared by the resident. Detectives will continue the investigation as to cause of death, how long the skull has been there or who it belongs to.  Anyone with information on this case should call the Detective Scott Tennant at (541) 967-3950.
