Dumpster Fire Spreads to Building in West Eugene




Eugene, Or.  Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a structure fire at 1060 W 11th Ave in Eugene Tuesday morning. 

 At 3:04 AM on June 4th, Engine 2 from the Whitaker station was alerted to a dumpster fire.  Neighbors called in reporting the fire and while E2 was responding, callers informed dispatchers that the building was catching on fire.  E2 requested a full first alarm for a structure fire arriving to find a dumpster burning and an attic fire in the adjacent building.

Crews entered the large storage building  to search for occupants and extinguish the fire.  There were no injuries reported and the cause is under investigation.  

EPD supported the operation with traffic and crowd control and EWEB isolated power for firefighter safety.
