Eugene Couple Counterfeiting Currency Arrested for Forgery

Eugene, Or. - On February 29, Eugene Police’s Street Crimes Unit served a search warrant with EPD SWAT, Drones, and CNT teams in the 3600 block of West 13th Avenue.  The search warrant was the culmination of a forgery investigation and evidence seized included forged U.S. currency, printers, and ink. Christian Ronald Batchelder , age 31, and Emma Joy Connelly , age 24, both Eugene residents, were arrested and lodged at the Lane County Jail on charges of Forgery in the First Degree. Betchelder also has the charge of 144.350 - PAROLE VIOLATION for assault on a PO. Illegal Hash Oil Extraction Explosion Injures Two

Eugene, Or. -   Eugene Springfield Firefighters responses to an explosion at the 2-Bridges Homes For Good Location located at 599 E Broadway in Eugene Thursday Morning.   At 07:05 AM, Firefighters responded for a fire alarm at the location.  On their arrival Firefighters found evidence of an explosion at the occupancy with two identified patients.  Two adults were evaluated and one transported to the hospital for burn injuries.  The explosion and fire activated the sprinkler system which extinguished the fire.   An investigation determined the explosion was a result of illegal hash oil extraction.  A fire watch has been ordered while the sprinkler system is restored.   No other occupants were injured or displaced. Deputies Need Your Help in Florence Area Shooting Investigation

Florence, Or. - On Monday at about 10:30 p.m., Deputies responded with Florence Police to the area of the Goose Pasture Staging Area on South Jetty Road for a report of a male who was shot.   The victim had been struck by gunfire while inside his trailer, causing significant injury.  He, the victim, was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition.   Detectives have conducted extensive follow up on the case, but have been unable to locate the suspected shooter. Woman On Probation For 2020 Animal Neglect Conviction Cited for Animal Neglect Again

Lane County, Or. - On Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, Deputies responded with Lane County Animal Services to an address in the 34400 block of Highway 58.  LCAS had received complaints of malnourished animals from area residents. The owner of the animals, Raina McKenzie Ott , was known to be on probation from a 2020 conviction for 11 counts of Animal Neglect in the Second Degree in which she was sentenced to 60 months of probation. While LCAS typically does initial contact on animal neglect cases,  LCSO assisted due to the likely probation violation and criminal neglect of the animals. Deputies contacted Ott at the residence and discovered several malnourished cows and emaciated companion animals living in deplorable conditions. Several decomposing cow carcasses were also found. LCAS rehoused the companion animals and is working with Ott to remove the remaining cows from the property.  Possession of the cows and companion animals was in violation of her probation as well. Man Arrested After Stealing Truck, Fleeing Police, Ramming Police Vehicle

Eugene, Or. - At 6:19 a.m. on February 28, Eugene Police was dispatched to a call about a Chevrolet Silverado that had just been stolen from a man’s driveway in the 300 block of Wilkie Street. An officer spotted the stolen truck going eastbound on W. 7th Avenue near Van Buren Street and then several EPD officers responded to the area. The officer who had spotted the vehicle initiated a traffic stop but the driver, later identified as Freddie Lee Davis aka: Freddie Lee Jenkins, age 44, accelerated away.  Involved truck being towed There was a short pursuit, and officers attempted to forcibly stop the truck. Davis was able to evade this and then rammed the officer’s vehicle. The truck became inoperable, and Davis was safely taken into custody.  Davis was transported to Lane County Jail and lodged on charges including Reckless Driving and Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, as well as two warrants. Suspect in Custody on Multiple Measure 11 Sex Crimes - Albany

Albany, Or. - Today, Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 11:23am Albany Fire Department notified Albany Police they were responding to a residence in the 1800 block of SW 16th Ave for a trauma injury to the leg that was a result of an assault.  Officers arrived and determined the suspect had attempted to sexually assault a female at the location and fled on foot approximately 20 minutes prior to the 911 call. Albany Fire Personnel transported her to a local area hospital for further treatment of her injuries.  Officers and Detectives began an immediate search of the area for the suspect, who was identified by the victim as Brandon Taylor Beckner , age 37 of Albany.   Officers continued to search the area and alerted the community via Nixle text alerts and social media messages.
