Springfield Police Blotter for Feb. 7-8, 2013. This is a sampling of police activity that occurred in Springfield during that time period, and not representative of all activity that occurred.
Thursday, Feb. 7
12:24 a.m. – A resident in the 3800 block of Vitus Lane reported a high-strung neighbor known as “Crazy Harry” has been playing loud music from his apartment. Police responded and advised the subjects in the apartment to turn their music down.
1:37 a.m. – A woman in the 700 block of 1st St. reported her mother had taken part of her computer, making it inoperable. Police responded, and advised the involved parties they would be arrested if they had to come out to the location again, due to all of the parties having differing versions of what happened.
1:58 a.m. – A man was reported to be sitting in a vehicle alone, throwing a fit and screaming at an apartment complex in the 3000 block of Gateway St. Police responded and spoke to the 49-year-old male subject, who went to a friend’s residence in the complex.
2:14 a.m. – Police responded to a dispute in the 3100 block of Gateway St., and determined no incident occurred.
4:19 a.m. – Police responded to a report of a female subject yelling in the 3100 block of Gateway St. The subject was one of the involved in the 2:14 a.m. call. Heather Funderburk, 23, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct.
4:39 a.m. – Police were engaged in a brief pursuit near 32nd St. and Virginia Ave. Tierra Olson, 28, was arrested on charges of reckless driving and eluding police.
8:46 a.m. – Three abandoned bicycles were found near 41st and A Streets.
12:01 p.m. – Police responded to a report of a male subject standing in the alley behind Planned Parenthood in the 3500 block of Franklin Blvd. He was reported to have been there for about 10-15 minutes, and was wearing professional attire including a lanyard. He was holding two cell phones and holding rosary beads. Police spoke to the 41-year-old male subject, searched him and found no weapons.
2:24 p.m. – An employee of Springfield High School in the 800 block of 7th St requested a case number of possession of marijuana.
3:53 p.m. – Jason Davey, 29, was arrested at Wal-Mart in the 2600 block of Olympic St. on a warrant for a parole violation for delivery of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school. He also incurred additional charges of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine.
4:57 p.m. – A vehicle was stopped by police near Gateway St. and International Way. Police arrested Andrew Koloski, 32, and Samantha Romero, 31. Both were charged with possession and delivery of methamphetamine, and Koloski was also charged with driving while suspended. A child in the vehicle was released to its grandmother.
5:38 p.m. – A resident of an apartment complex in the 6300 block of Main St. reported a juvenile male subject poured bleach all over her clothing while it was in the washer. Prior to this, the caller had taken the subject’s clothing out of the washer after it had washed, so she could put her clothes in. After discovering the bleach on her clothing, the caller confronted the subject about the incident, and was told “if people didn’t touch other people’s clothes, then this kind of thing wouldn’t happen.” The incident was resolved.
6:37 p.m. – Christina Champlin, 29, was cited for driving while suspended in the 1100 block of Mohawk Blvd.
8:13 p.m. – A male subject was reported to be standing outside Pizza Hut in the 100 block of 32nd St. making racial slurs towards customers. Police contacted the 39-year-old subject and informed him of being trespassed from the property.
9:26 p.m. – David Corwin, 52, was arrested in a charge of DUII at S. A and S. 15th Streets.
10:06 p.m. – An employee of the Pour House Tavern in the 400 block of 42ndSt. reported a male subject was refusing to leave and attempting to provoke employees. The subject was angry after no longer being served alcohol by the caller. Police responded to the location and advised a 47-year-old male subject about his behavior and trespassing.
10:28 p.m. – A woman reported having left her cell phone at a residence in the 3100 block of Gateway St. She found out a female subject had taken the phone and gave it to her boyfriend, known as “Mexican Mike”, who had allegedly sold it. The woman contacted the two subjects and was told she had to pay them $150. The caller refused and filed a claim with her phone carrier, and advised her to contact police first. Police arrested Devin Cox, 19, on a charge of second-degree theft.
Friday, Feb. 8
1:25 a.m. – A resident in the 2500 block of L St. reported a male subject knocking on the door, asking for “Bryan Blackstone.” The subject also had knocked on the door about 30 minutes earlier. Police were unable to locate the subject, who was described as a white male in his early 30s, about 6 feet tall and wearing dark clothing.
1:46 a.m. – An employee of Shari’s in the 900 block of Beltline Rd. reported a male subject asked to be let into the video lottery area, but was not let in. The subject pointed out the security cameras to the employee and saying he knew where they were. The caller was concerned about her employees’ safety and requested police do a few drive-bys during the night.
2:44 a.m. – Matthew Pope, 34, was arrested on warrants for multiple counts of theft, aggravated theft, burglary, criminal mischief and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
3:15 a.m. – A male was walking in the 1500 block of 5th St. with a flashlight. Police contacted a 56-year-old male subject, who was out walking his dog.
10:50 a.m. – Richard Atteberry, 23, was cited for driving while suspended at Mohawk Blvd. and the 126 freeway.
11:20 a.m. – A stray dog wandered into Cash King in the 600 block of W. Centennial Blvd.
12:21 p.m. – Jeremy Chase, 34, came into the Springfield Police station to pick up a bicycle. He was arrested on a warrant for burglary.
12:41 p.m. – A woman entering Wal-Mart in the 2600 block of Olympic St. reported hearing a dog yelping, and saw a woman in a vehicle beating a German Shepherd-type of dog because it barked in her ear. The vehicle was gone when police arrived.
2:01 p.m. – A woman in the 2600 block of S. Cloverleaf Loop reported a male subject came to her door trying to sell meat for “At Home Meat Company.” She sent the subject away, but then he returned a few minutes later. The woman did not answer the door, and described the subject as a white male in his late 30s, 5’8” with a medium build, bald, no upper front teeth and wearing a hooded sweatshirt and jeans. Police did not locate the subject in a check of the area.
2:09 p.m. – Ryan Earlley, 36, was arrested for driving while suspended at 10th and G Streets.
4:54 p.m. – An employee of Wal-Mart in the 2600 block of Olympic St. reported three female subjects were involved in a theft. The caller said one of the subjects was at a nearby KFC and running towards Olympic St. The caller reported the subject had stolen a hair straightener. Police arrested Alicia Stark, 18, on a charge of theft.
5:13 p.m. – A caller in the 100 block of W. D St. reported hearing a dispute, including thumping and banging sounds. Police responded to the location and determined the incident was verbal in nature. However, police heard noises from a shed in the backyard and discovered juveniles were living inside. DHS was contacted, and en route to the location.
5:40 p.m. – Ryan Evans, 18, was arrested on a charge of theft after attempting to steal two cases of beer from Wal-Mart in the 2600 block of Olympic St.
7:05 p.m. – Brent Osterberg, 49, was cited for driving while suspended at S. 53rd and Main Streets.
7:25 p.m. – An employee of Sears in the 3000 block of Gateway St. reported a male subject was taking items and loading them into his pockets. He left the store and walked towards Applebee’s then to a nearby apartment complex. Police confirmed the identity of the male subject and located him at a residence sitting on a couch playing video games. Tremain Ducker, 29, was arrested on a warrant for theft, and on an additional charge of theft. He also was cited for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
7:40 p.m. – Police contacted a 31-year-old male subject in the 200 block of S. 53rd St. who was wearing an Afro-style wig and hat.
7:53 p.m. – Cheryl Hallett, 39, was arrested for DUII in the 400 block of Harlow Rd. She posted bail.
8:03 p.m. – Starr Pyritz, 57, was cited for driving while suspended at 42nd and Olympic Streets.
