Springfield Police Blotter for Feb. 9-10, 2013. This is a sampling of police activity that occurred in Springfield during that time period, and not representative of all activity that occurred.
Saturday, Feb. 9
1:02 a.m. – Police responded to a report of 2-3 male subjects on bicycles beating up a man. The victim did not want to speak to police or have medical attention. The victim told police he was not hit.
2:16 a.m. – Two subjects were reported to be yelling inside a pickup truck with a canopy parked in the 800 block of Kelly Blvd. There was no dispute, and police advised the subjects on prohibited camping. They went inside the house the pickup was parked in front of, as they know the residents there.

3:21 a.m. – A man reported his bag of medications was stolen from the vicinity of his parked car at Motel 6 in the 3700 block of International Court.
5:04 a.m. – A guest of the Sutton Motel in the 1100 block of Main St. reported orange and blue colored lights were flashing in her window. She said lights were being shined into her room. The caller said she believed the possible subject might be a serial killer. Police checked the area and did not locate any suspicious activity.
8:24 a.m. – Taryn Heyler, 26, was cited for driving while suspended at W. Centennial Blvd. and Mill St.
9:17 a.m. – Roger Jensen, 45, was arrested at S. 34th St. and Oregon Ave. on a warrant for contempt of court – non- payment of child support.
10:18 a.m. – A loaded pistol was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1000 block of Quinalt St.
10:24 a.m. – A resident of an apartment complex in the 1500 block of Main St. reported a female subject set up a camp site outside their apartment. The caller found documents in the property for “Jennifer.” The subject left the location, but left the camp intact. The caller said they would call back if the subject returns.
11:23 a.m. – A caller reported two subjects high on methamphetamine were yelling and screaming at each other in the parking lot of the Regency Motel in the 1100 block of Main St. The subjects were evicted, and given an hour to leave.
11:49 a.m. – Gail Hurst, 41, was arrested on a warrant from Harrisburg for contempt of court at Safeway in the 1800 block of Pioneer Parkway E.
1:04 p.m. – A caller reported a dispute in progress at a residence in the 6700 block of Aster St. The caller reported being assaulted by a male subject, and said the subject needs a marijuana fix every day, and is out of control because he hadn’t used any today. Police arrested Jimmie Murray, 29, on a charge of harassment.
1:17 p.m. – Several chickens were at large in the roadway at 33rd and Olympic Streets.
6:36 p.m. – A woman reported her husband, who had been drinking, grabbed her arm and pushed her down. She initially wanted to press charges. Police responded to the residence in the 1100 block of J St, but the caller declined to be a victim, and the husband left for the night.
7:55 p.m. – A caller reported seeing a vehicle parked at Castle Superstore in the 3200 block of Gateway St., which then moved over to Staples. The occupants exited the vehicle and walked behind the store.
8:30 p.m. – Two male juveniles were cited and released to their parents after attempting to steal beer from Safeway in the 1800 block of Pioneer Parkway E.
9:33 p.m. – A customer at Dutch Bros. in the 200 block of S. 5th St. reported to police a customer on the other side of the drive-thru told the barista he was “very high” and had “been smoking pot all day.” After the barista expressed concern to the subject motorist about being in legal trouble, the subject told the barista “I will run from those cops.”

Sunday, Feb. 10
12:36 a.m. – Police responded to a complaint of a loud party in the 800 block of Oakdale Ave. The bunko players were advised to keep the noise down.

2:34 a.m. – Police pulled over Springfield City Council member Dave Ralston, 57, on suspicion of DUII in the 4200 block of Main St. He contacted Police Chief Jerry Smith by cell phone. Police arrested Ralston and lodged him at Springfield Municipal Jail on charges of DUII/alcohol, controlled substance.
4:20 a.m. – William Graham, 43, was arrested on a warrant for third-degree theft at Franklin Blvd. and Concord Ave.
4:35 a.m. – A newspaper carrier was delivering newspapers in a mobile home park in the 1100 block of 58th St. and observed a vehicle parked there, with just a passenger. She did not recognize the vehicle and contacted police, who responded and arrested Thomas Maloney, 29, on a warrant.
8:16 a.m. – Gordon Pettengill, 39, was arrested for being a felon in possession of a weapon.
9:45 a.m. – Alfred Lopez, 35, was arrested on multiple warrants at Motel 6 in the 3700 block of International Ct.
11:28 a.m. – Employees of Wal-Mart discovered an iPad box returned to customer service actually contained a brick. A report was taken for second-degree theft.

12:00 p.m. – Timothy Heller, 32, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and cited for driving while suspended in the 4400 block of Franklin Blvd.
1:00 p.m. – A suspicious “skinny” male subject was reported to be in the bushes on a BMX bike near Bi-Mart in the 5700 block of Main St. Police contacted Sterling Gilbert, 25 and arrested him on a warrant for possession of methamphetamine. He also received an additional charge of possession of methamphetamine.
3:29 p.m. – A resident of a mobile home park in the 700 block of 28th St. reported a male subject was checking the mailbox and looking in property. The subject was described as a white male with a bald head, wearing blue sweatpants, white shoes and carrying a blue duffel bag. He also was described as in his early 20s and “Tweeker looking.” The subject walked south on 28th St. and police did not locate him in a check of the area.
5:23 p.m. – A resident in the 5300 block of F St. reported a cell phone, CD’s, four cases of sods and three bags of potato chips were stolen from a vehicle parked in the driveway.

5:50 p.m. – Chris Derieux, 50, was arrested for DUII on a bicycle in the 1500 block of M St. He also was cited for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
6:47 p.m. – Kristi Ford, 34, was cited for driving while suspended at 12thand Main Streets.

10:26 p.m. – Georgina Moon, 58, was arrested for DUII in the 900 block of Mill St. She also was cited for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
