Man Arrested For DUII After Driving Wrong Way On I-105



Eugene, Or. - Shortly before 2:30 a.m. on February 22, an officer spotted a truck traveling eastbound at high speed in the westbound lanes of I-105.  

Several EPD units responded to the area as the involved vehicle continued into Springfield.  An EPD lieutenant was in the right place at the right time and successfully a deployed tire deflation device. The vehicle slowed and an EPD lieutenant and a Springfield Police officer pinned the vehicle together on I-105 near Mohawk without injuries to any of the involved parties, and no significant damage to vehicles.

Officers contacted the driver, Harrison Don Hertig, age 29, of Eugene, and suspected he was impaired. After an investigation by an EPD officer working DUII grant overtime, 

Hertig was arrested and transported to Lane County Jail and lodged on charges including DUII, Reckless Driving, and Reckless Endangering. Springfield Police impounded Hortig’s vehicle.
