Suspect From Coastal Farm Burglary Arrested





Eugene, Or. - On Wednesday February 14, Eugene Police Property Crimes detectives were conducting follow-up on a burglary from Coastal Farm.

During the investigation, at around 10:51 a.m., detectives identified one of the three burglary suspects as 29-year-old Jesse Alan Rook. Detectives spotted Rook getting into a vehicle and began to follow him while additional units responded to the area to assist.

As detectives followed Rook, he began driving erratically. Rook was reported to have been driving on the sidewalks and the wrong way on one-way streets. Rook eventually crashed his vehicle at 7th Avenue and Lawrence and fled the vehicle on foot. He was located hiding under a tarp in the area and was taken into custody without further incident. 

Rook was lodged at the Lane County Jail on charges of Burglary in the Second Degree, Robbery in the Third Degree, Elude, three counts of ID Theft, and Criminal Mischief in the First Degree.

Eugene, Or. - At 3 a.m. on September 1, Eugene Police received reports of a loud dispute with shots fired outside a home near Royal Avenue and Ruskin Street. Units arrived to find a woman, Haley Leann Mackin , age 23, deceased with gunshot wounds.  Eugene Police Violent Crimes Unit identified Brandon Daniel Smith , age 24, as the suspect. Mackin and Smith had previously been in a relationship. Smith had plead guilty to, and been convicted of, assault in the forth degree misdemeanor DV against Mackin earlier this year on 04/10/2024. Case # 24CR11412. Eugene, Or. - Eugene Police Street Crimes Unit is asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect, Shayla Kaylawray Bennett , age 29.   Bennett has a nationwide, full-extradition warrant. She is wanted for Failure to Appear for Child Neglect in the First Degree, Possession of Heroin -  Commercial Offense, and other controlled substance possession offenses. 13-Year-Old Calls 911 on Mother Driving Recklessly

Springfield, Or. - On Monday, August 25, 2024, Springfield Police Department Officers were made aware of a blue Subaru that was being driven recklessly through red lights and traveling eastbound on Beltline towards Springfield.  The Subaru was reported by an 13-year-old juvenile in the vehicle, who had called 911 to report that their mother, Camie Colleen Sorensen , age 43, was driving recklessly and looking for “water to drive into”.  An officer positioned themselves in the Gateway area, in the event that the Subaru entered Springfield. Shortly after, the Subaru passed the officer before briefly yielding at a red light. The vehicle then accelerated away at a high rate of speed as the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop.  The vehicle continued southbound on Pioneer Parkway West, weaving through traffic, and driving dangerously.
