Three Arrested After Shots Fired Incident at Willagillespie Elementary Parking Lot





Eugene, or. - At 3:29 p.m. on February 7, callers reported shots fired from a blue Ford Explorer in the Willagillespie Elementary School parking lot. 

Two vehicles were involved in the incident and the suspect vehicle from which shots were fired fled northbound on Delta. Eugene Police patrol and detective units responded to the incident.  

A short time later the Explorer was spotted by Eugene Police and the Lane County Sheriff's Office. A pursuit ensued until the vehicle attempted to drive across a field and into a creek near Greenhill north of Royal. The three Explorer occupants were compliant and subsequently arrested with charges as below.  

There were faculty members and some children on the property during the incident, but no injuries were reported from the shots fired. Some vehicles in the lot were struck by bullets. EPD’s Major Collision Investigation team and Forensic Evidence Unit responded to aid Eugene Police Investigations with the case.

Front Passenger – Male, age 17, of Portland – Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Reckless Endangering, Tampering with Evidence, Unlawful Purchase Firearm,

Back passenger - Isyk Paul Bartlett, age 20, of Eugene - Parole Violation

    I whitenesses this I was right in front of them when I saw the passenger pulled the gun out and started firing very scary moment I’m glad all children and staff were okay

Units arrived to find a woman, Haley Leann Mackin , age 23, deceased with gunshot wounds.  Eugene Police Violent Crimes Unit identified Brandon Daniel Smith , age 24, as the suspect. Eugene, Or. - Eugene Police Street Crimes Unit is asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect, Shayla Kaylawray Bennett , age 29.   Bennett has a nationwide, full-extradition warrant. She is wanted for Failure to Appear for Child Neglect in the First Degree, Possession of Heroin -  Commercial Offense, and other controlled substance possession offenses. 13-Year-Old Calls 911 on Mother Driving Recklessly

Springfield, Or. - On Monday, August 25, 2024, Springfield Police Department Officers were made aware of a blue Subaru that was being driven recklessly through red lights and traveling eastbound on Beltline towards Springfield.  The Subaru was reported by an 13-year-old juvenile in the vehicle, who had called 911 to report that their mother, Camie Colleen Sorensen , age 43, was driving recklessly and looking for “water to drive into”.  An officer positioned themselves in the Gateway area, in the event that the Subaru entered Springfield. Shortly after, the Subaru passed the officer before briefly yielding at a red light. The vehicle then accelerated away at a high rate of speed as the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop.  The vehicle continued southbound on Pioneer Parkway West, weaving through traffic, and driving dangerously.
