Protective Order Violation Results In Injury - Suspect Arrested

Springfield, Or. - On June 10th, 2024, at 0640 hours, officers responded to a reported violation of a stalking protective order that had resulted in injury.

The victim had confronted the suspect, MICHELLE JULIA LAWSON, who was in violation of the order. Lawson produced a cleaver style knife and swung in the direction of the victim, connecting with the victim’s forearm on the second attempt. Lawson then fled from the area and the victim ran into the residence to administer aid to himself.

Around 0830 hours, SPD dispatch was contacted by the suspect’s daughter who was able to provide officers with Lawson’s location. Officers located Lawson near 155 Q Street and were successfully able to pin her vehicle, rendering it unmovable. Officers began to hail Lawson and give admonishments, which she ignored.

A member of the SPD Crisis Negotiation Team responded to the area and was able to contact Lawson. The CNT member was able to successfully negotiate Lawson’s surrender; at which point she exited the vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident.
