Sheriff's Search & Rescue & Deputies Recover Body at Terwilliger Hot Springs



Lane County, Or. - On Saturday, June 22nd at about 9 a.m., Lane County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue personnel and deputies responded to the Terwilliger Hot Springs to assist Upper McKenzie Fire Department with an unresponsive patient. 

Shortly after being dispatched, the subject was declared deceased. Search & Rescue assisted with carrying the subject along the hiking path down to the parking lot and deputies began an investigation into the cause of the person’s death. 

The subject was identified as Jesse James Calkins, 40, of Hines, Oregon. The circumstances of Calkins’ death do not appear to be criminal in nature.
