Springfield Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash on Highway 126
LINN COUNTY, Ore. — A 72-year-old Springfield man, Jan Dwight McSilvers, was killed in a motorcycle crash on Highway 126 near milepost 0 on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 10:41 a.m., according to Oregon State Police.
Preliminary investigations indicate that McSilvers, riding an eastbound Harley Davidson, failed to navigate a curve, causing the motorcycle to leave the roadway and roll on top of him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash closed the highway for about an hour during the investigation, which remains ongoing. Black Butte EMS and the Oregon Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
