Eugene Man Arrested After Giving False Name, Found with Meth and Concealed Dagger



EUGENE, OR – A 43-year-old man was arrested on February 4th after officers discovered he had provided a false name during a camping enforcement operation near 221 Division Avenue. 

The man, later identified as James Albert Reynolds*, initially told police his name was Markaus John Walker. Officers were unable to verify the name, leading to a warning about potential charges for giving false information to authorities.

Despite being admonished, Reynolds then identified himself as "Mark James Reynolds," but further investigation confirmed his true identity. Officers discovered Reynolds had an outstanding arrest warrant for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Felon in Possession of a Firearm, case # 21CR46385. During the arrest, Reynolds was found in possession of methamphetamines and a concealed fixed-blade dagger.

Reynolds was taken into custody and lodged at the Lane County Jail on multiple charges, including False Information to Police, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and Felon in Possession of a Restricted Weapon. He remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.

13-Year-Old Calls 911 on Mother Driving Recklessly

Springfield, Or. - On Monday, August 25, 2024, Springfield Police Department Officers were made aware of a blue Subaru that was being driven recklessly through red lights and traveling eastbound on Beltline towards Springfield.  The Subaru was reported by an 13-year-old juvenile in the vehicle, who had called 911 to report that their mother, Camie Colleen Sorensen , age 43, was driving recklessly and looking for “water to drive into”.  An officer positioned themselves in the Gateway area, in the event that the Subaru entered Springfield. Shortly after, the Subaru passed the officer before briefly yielding at a red light. The vehicle then accelerated away at a high rate of speed as the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop.  The vehicle continued southbound on Pioneer Parkway West, weaving through traffic, and driving dangerously.
