Two Arrested in Lane County on Child Exploitation Charges

EUGENE, Ore. – Detectives from the Lane County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men on child exploitation charges following separate investigations by the Lane County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

On February 6, detectives served search warrants at two residences, one in the 100 block of Lea Avenue and another in the 2500 block of Willakenzie Road, Eugene. They arrested 31-year-old Noah Alan Starkey-Gomes on 8 charges of Encouraging Child Sex Abuse in the 1st and 8 charges of 2nd Degree. Starkey-Gomes was taken to the Lane County Jail.

In a separate investigation, detectives also served a search warrant at a home in the 1000 block of Cinnamon Avenue, where 42-year-old James Watson Gilbert was arrested. Gilbert faces 11 counts each of Encouraging Child Sex Abuse in the 1st and 2nd Degree. He, too, was lodged at the Lane County Jail.

Both cases stem from ongoing investigations into child exploitation and possession of child pornography. Authorities have stated there is no indication of local victims at this time.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Springfield Police Department, Eugene Police Department, Oregon State Police, FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Oregon Department of Justice.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details have been released.
