Wanted Sweet Home Man Arrested After High-Speed Motorcycle Crash

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ore. – A Sweet Home man with multiple felony warrants was taken into custody Tuesday after crashing his motorcycle while attempting to flee law enforcement, according to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 2:31 p.m. to reports of a suspicious person in the 39000 block of Crawfordsville Drive and suspected it was Tyler Bruce Lanz, 37, who was wanted on felony warrants. Authorities had previously tried to arrest Lanz on February 12 near Holley after he fled from Sweet Home Police, but he was not located at that time.

As deputies and Oregon State Police troopers set up a perimeter, a motorcycle sped away from the area and crashed. Lanz was identified as the rider. He suffered what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Lebanon Hospital before being transferred to Good Samaritan Hospital.

Deputies accompanied Lanz in the ambulance and will remain with him until he is booked into jail. He is wanted on felony warrants for parole violation, stemming from an original Assault II charge, and failure to appear. Additional charges are pending.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Oregon State Police and the Sweet Home Fire Department.
