Father Seeks Support as He Fights for Justice for Abused Son




Last month, I reported on the heartbreaking case of Sarah Session and her parents, Paula and Gary Hardenburg. Sarah is accused of abusing and attempting to kill her 9-year-old stepson, Braxton, while her parents are accused of aiding in the abuse and covering up evidence.

Today, I introduce you to Christopher Session, Braxton’s father, who is now raising his son, along with his two other children, while navigating the legal battles ahead. Despite all he has endured, Braxton is doing remarkably well, as shown in the photo shared with Christopher’s permission.


While the worst is over in terms of physical harm, the emotional toll remains. Christopher and his family now face not just one, but three upcoming trials as they seek justice for Braxton. This case has been ongoing since last year when Braxton was placed at OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital after allegedly suffering horrific abuse at the hands of his stepmother. That marked the end of his suffering and the beginning of his recovery
.
Now, Christopher needs our support. He is fighting through the legal system while raising three children on his own. A GoFundMe was set up last year while Braxton was still in the hospital, and although Braxton is now home, the financial burden remains. 

Unfortunately, donations have stopped since last year.

Eugene, Or. - At 3 a.m. on September 1, Eugene Police received reports of a loud dispute with shots fired outside a home near Royal Avenue and Ruskin Street. Units arrived to find a woman, Haley Leann Mackin , age 23, deceased with gunshot wounds.  Eugene Police Violent Crimes Unit identified Brandon Daniel Smith , age 24, as the suspect. Mackin and Smith had previously been in a relationship. Mackin was recently granted an order of protection against Smith.  Smith was taken into custody by EPD at 5:05 a.m. at  4th Avenue and Pearl Street . Eugene Woman Wanted With Nationwide Full-Extradition Warrant

Eugene, Or. - Eugene Police Street Crimes Unit is asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect, Shayla Kaylawray Bennett , age 29.   Bennett has a nationwide, full-extradition warrant. She is wanted for Failure to Appear for Child Neglect in the First Degree, Possession of Heroin -  Commercial Offense, and other controlled substance possession offenses. 13-Year-Old Calls 911 on Mother Driving Recklessly

Springfield, Or. - On Monday, August 25, 2024, Springfield Police Department Officers were made aware of a blue Subaru that was being driven recklessly through red lights and traveling eastbound on Beltline towards Springfield.  The Subaru was reported by an 13-year-old juvenile in the vehicle, who had called 911 to report that their mother, Camie Colleen Sorensen , age 43, was driving recklessly and looking for “water to drive into”.  An officer positioned themselves in the Gateway area, in the event that the Subaru entered Springfield. Shortly after, the Subaru passed the officer before briefly yielding at a red light. The vehicle then accelerated away at a high rate of speed as the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop.  The vehicle continued southbound on Pioneer Parkway West, weaving through traffic, and driving dangerously.
