Drunken Passenger Causes Chaos at Eugene Airport, Resists Arrest

EUGENE, OR – A Eugene man was arrested Monday evening after causing a disturbance at the Eugene Airport, leading to a physical struggle with law enforcement.

At approximately 5:50 p.m. on March 18, TSA employees alerted an on-site Eugene Police officer about a man who appeared intoxicated and had thrown his wallet on the ground during a security check. The man, identified as 48-year-old Jason Lee Carriere, was allowed to pass through security but later became disruptive at the gate when airline employees denied him boarding.

According to police, Carriere grew increasingly agitated, demanding that the plane be held until he was allowed to board. When approached by the officer and instructed to leave the airport, Carriere refused, moving aggressively toward the officer and attempting to interfere with their radio communication.

A physical struggle ensued, during which Carriere resisted attempts to be detained. An airline employee assisted in subduing him until backup arrived. Carriere continued to be combative, refusing to stand and verbally abusing officers. He was eventually placed in a restraint device and a spit hood before being transported to the Lane County Jail.

Carriere faces charges of Disorderly Conduct, Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree, and Resisting Arrest.
