Shots Fired Incident in Eugene Leads to Multiple Arrests

Update: Suspect Arrested Following Investigation

EUGENE, Ore. – Eugene Police officers, working in conjunction with the Violent Crimes Unit, SWAT, and Special Investigations Unit, executed a search warrant and arrested 18-year-old Cody Robert Smith early this morning at a residence at 2191 block of Amirante Street

Smith was taken into custody without incident and is now facing multiple charges, including Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Menacing in the First Degree, and Bias Crime in the First Degree. These charges stem from a shots-fired incident that occurred on March 25 at the same location.

Original Incident: Shots Fired in Residential Area

On March 25 at approximately 12:25 a.m., Eugene Police responded to reports of a dispute in the 2100 block of Amirante Street. Shortly after the initial call, multiple reports came in indicating that shots had been fired at the scene. Officers arrived swiftly and canvassed the area, discovering spent shell casings. A welfare check of the residence revealed that the occupants had been confronted by a group outside. It was reported that one individual fired a weapon into the air, but no evidence suggested that the home or parked vehicles had been hit by gunfire.

Following the initial response, officers searching the Barger area located a suspect vehicle matching the description provided by witnesses. The white sedan, occupied by four males between the ages of 16 and 18, was found parked near Empire Park and Barger Drive. Officers detained the occupants without incident and conducted a consent search of the vehicle, though no firearms were found.

Arrests Made

Three of the four individuals were arrested and lodged for Disorderly Conduct, while the fourth suspect, a minor, was cited and released to a parent. The identified adult suspects include:

  • Anders Miley Disla, 18 - male

  • Nicholas D. Thompson, 18 - male

The other two individuals involved are juveniles, aged 16 and 17, and their names have not been released due to their minor status.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
