Eugene Woman Arrested for Murder After Stabbing



EUGENE, OR – A Eugene woman has been arrested following a fatal stabbing at a residence on West 6th Avenue.

UPDATE: The victim is identified as David James Valentine, age 63. The victim and the suspect knew each other and cohabitated at the location.

At approximately 6:59 p.m. on March 29, Eugene Police responded to a reported stabbing at a motel located at 1522 W. 6th Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 63-year-old man deceased at the scene. Authorities quickly detained a woman, identified as 65-year-old Cynthia Christine Fletcher, also known as Cynthia Christine Kephart according to court records

Fletcher was subsequently arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail, where she faces a charge of Murder in the Second Degree, and a felony  charge of Unlawful Use of a Weapon,. According to police, the victim and the suspect were known to each other.

Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the circumstances of the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
