Fort Bragg Man Pleads Guilty to Criminally Negligent Homicide in Fatal 2023 Crash

Eugene, OR – Ravi Artemus Polini, now 26, of Fort Bragg, California, pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide on June 30, 2025, for a fatal two-vehicle crash on June 24, 2023, on Hwy 101 near milepost 186 in Lane County, according to court records. Polini was originally charged with Manslaughter in the Second Degree.  Polini was sentenced to 36 months (3 years) in prison, followed by 36 months of post-prison supervision, and is eligible for good time credits and early release. The charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII) was dismissed. The Oregon State Police reported that Polini, then 24, was driving a black Ford F-250 northbound near Sutton Lake Rd when it veered out of its lane, crossed a turn lane, and left the roadway. The truck then crossed Sutton Lake Rd and struck a blue Chevy Bolt, driven by Logan Jacob Scott, 31, of Florence, who was stopped at a stop sign. Scott was pronounced dead at the scene. Man Stabbed at Eugene Party, Suspect Arrested

EUGENE, Ore. — A 36-year-old man was hospitalized early Sunday, June 29, 2025, after being stabbed at a party in a home on the 4600 block of Leona Court , according to Eugene Police. Officers responded at 2:46 a.m. following a report of the incident and coordinated with Eugene Springfield Fire medics to provide medical care to the victim, who was then transported to a local hospital. Police detained six occupants of the home for investigation, eventually identifying 36-year-old Edgar Daniel Figueroa as the suspect. Figueroa was arrested and booked into Lane County Jail on charges of second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon. The other individuals were released. Sheriff’s Office Arrests Cottage Grove Man in Child Exploitation Investigation

Cottage Grove, Or. - In May 2025, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation into an adult male communicating inappropriately with a minor online. The investigation identified Frank Dylan Hendricks, a 39-year-old male, as having engaged in illicit sexual conduct with the minor via online platforms. On June 25, 2025, with assistance from the Cottage Grove Police Department, Lane County Sheriff’s Office detectives served a search warrant at a residence in the 2300 block of East Main Street, Cottage Grove. Hendricks was contacted at the location and arrested on the following charges: Using a Child in Display of Sexually Explicit Conduct (ORS 163.670) Online Sexual Corruption of a Child in the Second Degree (ORS 163.432) Luring a Child (ORS 167.057 ) Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree (ORS 163.686) Hendricks was booked into the Lane County Jail. Driver Arrested for DUII After Crashing into Power Pole in Eugene

EUGENE, Ore. — A 37-year-old was arrested early Wednesday morning after crashing a Chevrolet Colorado pick-up truck into a city power pole at Green Acres Road and Delta Oaks Drive, police said. The incident occurred at 6:36 a.m. on June 25, 2025, when callers reported the truck wedged between a pole and a large bush, approximately 30 feet from a residence. Eugene Police responded and assisted the driver, identified as Mitchell Allen Gould, out of the vehicle through the front passenger door. Suspecting impairment, officers continued their investigation after Gould was evaluated by medics. A search revealed cocaine in Gould’s possession, prompting assistance from a Springfield Police Drug Recognition Expert. Gould was cited for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII), Reckless Driving, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine), Driving Uninsured, and Driving While Suspended. Man Arrested for Robbery at Eugene 7-Eleven

EUGENE, OR — On June 24, 2025, Eugene Police arrested 31-year-old Russell Dalton Ward following an robbery at the 7-Eleven located at 951 W. 6th Avenue. At approximately 2:26 p.m., officers responded to reports that Ward had shoplifted from the store and, when confronted by employees, brandished a knife and threatened them before fleeing. An employee followed Ward to a residence in the 400 block of Monroe Street, but Ward was believed to have left before police arrived. Later, an officer investigating the incident spotted Ward near the residence. Ward fled into a nearby backyard, prompting additional officers to respond. He eventually surrendered and was taken into custody. Ward was lodged at Lane County Jail on multiple outstanding warrants and a new charge of Robbery in the First Degree. EPD case number 25-10008. Three Arrested in Armed Robbery at Springfield Motel

SPRINGFIELD, OR — On April 4, 2025, Springfield Police arrested three men following an armed robbery at the Motel 6 on 3752 International Court.  The incident occurred around 1 a.m. when Ashton Isaiah Johnson , 27, of Cottage Grove, Daniel Zachary Evans , 35, of Springfield, and James Lance Good , 45, of Springfield, allegedly entered a motel room, brandished firearms, and stole property from two victims before fleeing in a vehicle. The robbery followed an earlier encounter on April 3, when one victim met Johnson in the motel parking lot, where Johnson offered to sell his Oregon Trail Card. The victim declined and returned to his room, where he and his girlfriend later faced the armed suspects. Springfield Police, with assistance from patrol officers, detectives, and probation officers, conducted a months-long investigation, gathering evidence that led to the identification and arrest of the trio. House Fire Determined to be Arson, Suspect Arrested

Eugene, OR – At approximately 1:18 AM on June 20, 2025, Eugene Springfield Fire (ESF) responded to a reported house fire in the 1000 block of W 3rd Ave in Eugene. Neighbors reported heavy fire visible from the roof of the structure, with concerns about possible victims inside. ESF Engine 2 from the Whiteaker station arrived as part of a full fire response, including four engines, one ladder truck, and two chiefs.
