Woman Rescued from Vehicle in Willamette River
EUGENE, Ore. — Eugene Springfield Fire (ESF) crews rescued a woman from a vehicle submerged in the Willamette River near Beltline on Sunday, June 1, 2025.
The incident was reported just after 1:30 p.m., with callers stating a vehicle had accelerated into the river, trapping the woman inside as it floated away.
ESF’s Ladder 11 from the Santa Clara station and Boat 5 from the Gateway station responded swiftly. Firefighters on Boat 5 extracted the woman from the vehicle, and Medic 11 transported her for medical evaluation.
The Lane County Sheriff’s drone and Search & Rescue teams provided support during the operation.
