Eugene Man Sentenced to 25 Years for First-Degree Sodomy Under Jessica's Law

EUGENE, Ore.Nicholas Scott Roberts, 32, was sentenced today after pleading guilty to seven counts of Sodomy in the First Degree

These charges, which are classified as Class A felonies and Measure 11 crimes, stem from crimes committed by Roberts in 2015.

Under Oregon’s Measure 11 law, Roberts will serve a 25-year sentence without the possibility of early release, minus any time he has already spent in county lock-up.

The sentencing was made possible by the efforts of Eugene Police detectives, who recorded a call between Roberts and the victim in which Roberts detailed his crimes against the victim.

A key factor in the sentencing was Jessica's Law for Oregon, or HB 3511, which allows the option of a minimum 25-year sentence for certain sex crimes and kidnapping offenses involving victims under the age of 12. This law played a significant role in Roberts being sentenced to 25 years in prison today.

Roberts was arrested on January 25, 2024, and is now awaiting transfer from the Lane County Jail to the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in Wilsonville, Oregon for intake processing. Afterward, Roberts will be transferred to an all-male correctional facility in Oregon to serve out his sentence.

Once Roberts has served his 25 year sentence, he will be on post prison supervision (PPS) for the rest of his life.

This conviction marks a significant step in holding offenders accountable for crimes involving vulnerable victims. The Eugene Police Department continues to work tirelessly to ensure justice for survivors of sexual assault and related crimes.
