Deputies Arrest Two Suspects in Connection to Wire Theft - Additional Suspect Sought


Lane County, Ore. – On January 16th, at approximately 7 a.m., a local resident in the Triangle Lake area of Highway 36 reported observing three individuals starting a fire on private property. The individuals matched the description of suspects linked to a recent wire theft in the region.

Deputies quickly responded to the scene and made contact with the suspects. Two of the individuals were found to have outstanding arrest warrants. However, the third suspect, identified as 56-year-old Craig Leon Beaty, fled the area.

A Lane County Sheriff’s detective soon joined the investigation. Authorities were able to locate stolen wire, which provided sufficient evidence to arrest all three individuals in connection to the wire theft.

The two suspects with warrants were taken into custody and lodged at the Lane County Jail:

  • Kenneth Lee Wilson, 50, of Florence, faces charges of Theft in the 1st Degree, Burglary in the 2nd Degree, and Failure to Report as a Sex Offender. He also had three outstanding warrants from Lane County Circuit Court and one from Eugene Municipal Court.

  • Kolby Timothy Vandehey, 37, of Eugene, is charged with Theft in the 1st Degree and Burglary in the 2nd Degree, along with four active warrants from Eugene Municipal Court.

Authorities are still searching for the third suspect, Craig Leon Beaty, (pictured above) who is believed to be in the Triangle Lake area. Anyone with information on Beaty's whereabouts is urged to contact the Lane County Sheriff’s Office at 541-682-4141.

She is wanted for Failure to Appear for Child Neglect in the First Degree, Possession of Heroin -  Commercial Offense, and other controlled substance possession offenses. 13-Year-Old Calls 911 on Mother Driving Recklessly

Springfield, Or. - On Monday, August 25, 2024, Springfield Police Department Officers were made aware of a blue Subaru that was being driven recklessly through red lights and traveling eastbound on Beltline towards Springfield.  The Subaru was reported by an 13-year-old juvenile in the vehicle, who had called 911 to report that their mother, Camie Colleen Sorensen , age 43, was driving recklessly and looking for “water to drive into”.  An officer positioned themselves in the Gateway area, in the event that the Subaru entered Springfield. Shortly after, the Subaru passed the officer before briefly yielding at a red light. The vehicle then accelerated away at a high rate of speed as the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop.  The vehicle continued southbound on Pioneer Parkway West, weaving through traffic, and driving dangerously.
