Eugene Man Arrested for Online Sexual Corruption of a Child

Eugene, Or. - On January 8, 2025, Duston Edmunlee Sisson, a 40-year-old man, was arrested by the Eugene Police Department (EPD) for the felony charge of online sexual corruption of a child, under Oregon Revised Statute (ORS) 163.433. This charge stems from alleged actions involving the use of technology to sexually exploit or corrupt a minor under the age of 18.

Sisson is currently being held at the Lane County Jail in Eugene, Oregon, on probable cause, pending further investigation and the filing of formal charges by the District Attorney’s office. Although Sisson has not yet been arraigned, it is expected that this will occur once the DA files charges in the Lane County Circuit Court.

ORS 163.433: Online Sexual Corruption of a Child

ORS 163.433 is a felony charge that criminalizes the use of electronic communication to coerce, manipulate, or entice minors into engaging in unlawful sexual conduct, and the individual intentionally takes a substantial step toward physically meeting with or encountering the minor This statute targets individuals who exploit technology to contact children with the intent of committing sexual offenses, recognizing the growing risk posed by online predators. Offenders convicted under this law face serious legal consequences, including imprisonment, reflecting Oregon’s commitment to protecting children from exploitation in the digital age.

A History of Arrests

This recent arrest marks another chapter in Duston Sisson's history with law enforcement. He has been arrested twice in eastern Oregon in the past, though the specifics of those prior incidents have not been fully disclosed. These past arrests, combined with the serious nature of the current charge, have heightened concern from both the local community and law enforcement officials.

Legal Process and Potential Consequences

Once formal charges are filed, Sisson will face an arraignment in the Lane County Circuit Court, where he will be informed of the charges against him and given an opportunity to enter a plea. Given the gravity of the charge under ORS 163.433, a conviction could lead to a significant prison sentence, reflecting the serious nature of the crime.

The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding children from online predators and the role of law enforcement in arresting individuals who exploit technology for harmful purposes. The investigation into Sisson’s actions is ongoing, and further developments are anticipated as more information becomes available. Authorities encourage anyone with information relevant to the case to come forward.
