Former Willamette Leadership Academy Staff Member Sentenced for Felony Crimes Involving a Minor
Eugene, Or. - A former staff member of Willamette Leadership Academy has been sentenced for felony charges related to the exploitation of a minor. Sean Duncan Reid, 24, was convicted of luring a minor and displaying sexually explicit conduct involving a child. The crimes took place between July and August of 2023.
Reid is currently being held in the Lane County Jail, awaiting transport to the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility for intake. His sentence is set to end on September 10th, 2027. (32 months)
Court records show that Reid pleaded guilty to the charges on November 18th, 2024. A trial that was set for November 19th, 2024, was canceled following the guilty plea.
At the time of his arrest, Reid was employed at Willamette Leadership Academy, and the victim was a former student. In response to the arrest, the academy issued a statement condemning the crimes. They emphasized the breach of trust, saying, "Any crime against children is a serious offense and a breach of the trust placed in staff who work with children."
Willamette Leadership Academy further stated, "Staff at WLA work diligently and successfully teaching our children and ensuring they are safe and secure in their school environment. This alarming development does not typify our educators and is against everything we at WLA represent."
