Man Arrested at Eugene Fred Meyer with Firearms, Fraudulent IDs
EUGENE, Ore. — A 33-year-old man, Andrew Shae Tayborne, was arrested on July 12 at the Fred Meyer store at 60 Division Avenue after attempting to purchase gift cards with fraudulent means, according to Eugene Police.
Tayborne, previously banned from the store and on post-prison supervision for identity theft, was spotted by a loss prevention employee at 6:58 p.m. carrying a pack around his chest.
An EPD officer located Tayborne as he left the store and followed him to Ross Lane and Lone Oak Avenue, where a traffic stop was initiated after observing suspicious behavior. Following a brief struggle, Tayborne was detained for criminal trespass.
A search revealed 33 pieces of fraudulent ID, 264 checks, 10.7 grams of methamphetamine, 2.8 ounces of marijuana, and two loaded firearms in the pack. A suspected AR-15 rifle in the vehicle was later identified as a replica BB gun.
Tayborne, who reported swallowing drugs, was taken to a local hospital before being booked into Lane County Jail on charges including unlawful possession of marijuana, identity theft, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine, and criminal trespass with a firearm.
