Two Arrested in Lane County Park Robbery
Lane County, Ore. — On July 20, 2025, Lane County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two men following a robbery at Perkins Peninsula Park. The victim, who arranged to buy items from the suspects, was assaulted and robbed of cash around 1 p.m.
Deputies identified the suspects as Christopher Alan Tafoya, 49, and David Willian Miller, 52. After a search, both were apprehended in the 26000 block of Butler Road and booked into Lane County Jail on charges including Robbery 2, Assault 3, Theft 1, Unauthorized Entry into a Motor Vehicle, and Interfering with Making a Report. Most of the stolen money was recovered.
Tafoya is also facing extradition proceedings out of California where he has a felony warrant. We will let you know if California extradites him. Tafoya has a fugitive I.D. hearing tomorrow at 1:30 PM.
The Sheriff’s Office advises using well-lit public areas for private sales, avoiding meeting strangers alone, and opting for electronic payments to reduce risks. While this case was resolved within 24 hours, authorities note that recovering stolen items or money is not always possible.
