Two Arrested in Armed Robbery at Eugene Apartment Complex
EUGENE, Ore. — Early this morning, July 24, Eugene Police arrested two suspects following a robbery at the 13th Olive Apartments located at 1180 Willamette Street. At 1:41 a.m., officers responded to reports of a robbery in the parking structure, where a man in his 40s had met a woman, later identified as 22-year-old Merceydes Lynn Weavill, and given her money. A dispute ensued, and Weavill fled with the cash toward a stairwell, pursued by the victim.
Weavill called for assistance from 24-year-old Daylon Michael Clarke, who arrived and brandished a firearm. The victim, also armed, drew his weapon, prompting Clarke to flee down the stairwell. Police responded in emergency mode and, after negotiations by an EPD crisis negotiator, both suspects surrendered and were taken into custody without incident at 3:33 a.m.
Following a judge-approved search warrant, officers recovered a firearm from an apartment. Clarke and Weavill were transported to Lane County Jail, facing charges of Robbery in the First Degree. Clarke also faces charges of Felon in Possession of a Weapon and Unlawful Use of a Weapon, while Weavill faces an additional charge of Prostitution.
