Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Armed Burglar After Shootout in Camp Creek
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Lane County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 34-year-old David Anthony Raymond of Eugene following an alleged armed burglary, and shots fired in the Camp Creek area on July 28, 2025. Around 7 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a trespasser on a property in the 88700 block of Easy Lane, northeast of Springfield.
Deputies used a thermal-equipped drone to locate Raymond, who was observed exiting his vehicle with a handgun and rifle. He fired several shots toward deputies from a prone position hundreds of yards away. Using an armored rescue vehicle, deputies approached Raymond, and a sergeant from the Crisis Negotiation Team contacted him by phone. Raymond soon drove closer to deputies and surrendered.
Following an investigation, Raymond was booked into Lane County Jail on charges including Attempted Assault in the 1st Degree, two counts of Menacing, two counts of Recklessly Endangering, Burglary in the 1st Degree, and Theft in the 1st Degree. The Eugene Police Department, Springfield Police Department, and Oregon State Police assisted in the response.
