Springfield Police Officers Injured in Stabbing, Suspect Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - Two Springfield Police officers were seriously injured after being stabbed by a suspect who was subsequently killed in an officer-involved shooting on July 30, 2025. The incident began around 2:37 p.m. when officers responded to reports of a disorderly individual at a business near Gateway Street and Beltline Road.
Upon locating the suspect near Gateway Street and Kruse Way, a Springfield Police officer was confronted by the individual, who brandished two knives and threatened to fight. The suspect then attacked, stabbing two Springfield Police officers, prompting a call for backup. Oregon State Police Troopers arrived to assist, and during the arrest, a Springfield Police officer-involved shooting occurred. Despite efforts to save the suspect’s life, he succumbed to his injuries.
The injured officers were transported to a local hospital for treatment of significant injuries. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
