Eugene Police Arrest Two in Fentanyl Bust

EUGENE, Ore. — Eugene Police arrested 39-year-old Anthony Miro Latin and 41-year-old Christina Amber Schmisek on May 5, 2025, following a months-long investigation into illegal narcotics trafficking. The Street Crimes Unit began probing the pair in early 2025 after receiving tips that Latin was distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine from a transitional housing camp on West 18th Avenue.

In March, authorities executed a search warrant at Latin’s residence, a hotel room, and a storage unit, seizing approximately one pound of powdered fentanyl, nearly $3,000 in cash, a Glock handgun, and evidence of identity theft. Latin, a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms in California, and Schmisek, who had outstanding warrants from another Oregon county, were apprehended by patrol officers.

Latin faces charges including identity theft, felon in possession of a firearm, manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance near a school, and possession of a Schedule 2 substance. Schmisek is charged with identity theft, possession of a Schedule 2 substance, felon in possession of a firearm, and third-degree escape. Both are currently held at Lane County Jail.
