West Eugene Fire Injures One, Damages Homes
EUGENE, Ore. — Eugene Springfield Fire (ESF) battled a third-alarm fire in West Eugene on Sunday evening, May 11, after flames engulfed two homes in the 3100 block of Coraly Avenue. Firefighters responded just after 5 p.m. to reports of multiple houses ablaze.
Engine 2 from the Whitaker station arrived within five minutes, encountering heavy fire in two homes and two others at risk. Crews quickly called for second and third alarms, deploying additional resources. Their swift action extinguished flames on the exterior of a third home and limited damage to a fourth.
One person was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.
The fire’s cause is under investigation. ESF’s response included eight engines, three truck companies, three battalion chiefs, three command staff, one EMS captain, three ambulances, two fire marshals, one support unit, and 50 total personnel.
