Fatal Crash on Highway 58 Claims One Life, Injures Another



LANE COUNTY, Ore. – A deadly two-vehicle collision occurred on Highway 58 near milepost 18 in Lane County on Monday, May 19, 2025, at approximately 7:30 a.m., according to Oregon State Police.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a westbound Toyota Hilux, driven by Martin Tammekivi, 37, of Oregon City, entered the eastbound lane while approaching slowed traffic and collided with an eastbound Dodge 2500 driven by Benjamin Norman Myles, 28, of Eugene. The impact struck the passenger side door of the Toyota.

Tammekivi was pronounced dead at the scene. Myles sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The crash closed Highway 58 for about four hours during the investigation. Oregon State Police were assisted by Lowell Rural Fire, Dexter Rural Fire, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
